Dr. Michael Conner, Ed.D, is an education specialist, strategist, author, partner, and entrepreneur. He is the CEO and founder of Agile Evolutionary Group, which uses data science to inform business decisions.
Education and career
Dr. Michael Conner received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Humanities from Lasell University. Dr. Conner also attended the University of Connecticut, participating in the Executive Leadership Program.[1]
Dr. Conner received a Sixth-Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. His Master of Science degree is from the University of Bridgeport. He also received a Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics from Harvard University.[1] Dr. Conner received his Doctor of Educational Leadership degree from Cambridge College in 2010.
Dr. Conner participated in the Harvard Business Analytics Program from 2018 through 2020. Additionally, he completed the Harvard Superintendents Institute and the American Association of School Administrators/Howard University National Urban Superintendents Academy in Washington, D.C.[2] In 2021, he completed the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Sloan School of Management’s Advanced Certificate in Management, Innovation, and Technology.
Dr. Conner began his professional career as a fourth-grade teacher from 2003 to 2007. Following this role, he was a curriculum specialist. He has held several leadership positions in the New England area, including as a principal, superintendent, assistant superintendent, and chief academic officer, among other roles.[2] During the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Ned Lamont selected Conner to serve on Connecticut’s Learn from Home Task Force, which distributed materials to public schools in the state.[2]
In 2022, Dr. Conner founded the Agile Evolutionary Group. Based in Rochester, NY, Agile Evolutionary Group uses data science, big data, and advanced analytics to inform business decisions. Clients include learning organizations, non-profit organizations, education technology firms, and large private-sector industries.[3] Dr. Conner created the Disruptive Effect — Anchors of Innovation Science and Disruptive Excellence Framework to help organizations scale their operations.[4] As part of Agile Evolutionary Group, Dr. Conner is also the creator and host of
“Voices for Excellence”, a podcast about transformative practices to support excellence and innovation to close opportunity gaps in the education ecosystem.[5]
Dr. Conner wrote and published Intentional, Bold, & Unapologetic: A Guide to Transforming Schools in the AC Stage of Education in 2022.[6] The book was in the top 200 on Amazon under the education administration category.
He serves as a commissioner on the National School Superintendents Association’s National American Rescue Plan Committee and Learning 2025: National Commission on Student Centered Equity-Focused Education.
Dr. Conner has been recognized by the Network Journal as a “Top 40 Under 40” recipient, as part of the Connecticut NAACP’s 100 Most Influential Blacks in 2018 and 2021. He is the recipient of the Middlesex NAACP’s Education Award, Eleven28 Entertainment’s 100 Men of Color Award, Cross Street African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church’s Reverend George E. Battle Senior Education Award, Middlesex United Way’s Community Leadership Award, and DECA Inc.’s National Administrator of the Year.[2] In 2022, he was awarded the Education 2.0 Outstanding Leadership Award.[7]
Dr. Conner is a founding member of Innovation for Equity (IFE), Upstate National Alliance of Black School Educators (Upstate NYABSE), and member of the National Alliance of Black School Educators and California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA).[8] He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
