Barry Oberholzer is an aviation specialist, helicopter pilot, tech entrepreneur, and author with a background in technology and data science.[1] His influence in intelligence and the aviation space has informed tactical missions on an international level.

Education and career

Barry Oberholzer was born in Houston, Texas. His family originated from South Africa but lived in the United States for his father’s station with South Africa’s Bureau for Information.[2] In 1985, he and his family returned home to South Africa after the completion of his father’s consul-general term.[3]

Oberholzer graduated from the University of South Africa and attended the American Military University in 2012, taking coursework in counterintelligence and terrorism.[3]

Oberholzer worked for several aviation companies in the United States, South Africa, and the Middle East.[4] He was a marketing manager for Base4 Aviation. He also worked for JETT.[5] He became the managing director of 360 Aviation in 2005.

Oberholzer worked as an intelligence contractor for several different federal agencies. From 2010 through 2015, he served as an intelligence operative for the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Department of Homeland Security HIS.

He is the author of “The Black Market Concierge”. Published in 2017, it is an autobiography that details Oberholzer’s experience working as a black-market facilitator and his overall career trajectory as a tech entrepreneur, aviation specialist, and intelligence operative.[6]

Additional activities

Oberholzer is a rugby player. He participated in two Junior World Championships playing with the United States Eagles.[4] He also played professional rugby for the U.S. and South Africa’s Western Province.[6]

Oberholzer donates time and resources to various philanthropic endeavors, including AeroAngels, an aviation charity that provides medical care transportation to in-need children.[7]
