William Fan (born May 30, 1989) is a Canadian electric vehicle entrepreneur, investor and businessman.[1] He is best known for his key roles in sustainable automotive companies such as Emobility Energy Inc, and SOLO Automotive Inc formerly known as (ElectraMeccanica Corp, Solo or EMV). Other notable involvements include his role as a strategic advisor and producer at SG Entertainment for talent and media production, as well as his role as the director and founding shareholder at Solo Automotive Inc Canada’s first electric car company. He is one of the youngest electric vehicle entrepreneurs in the world, with his companies spanning global markets in Taiwan, South Korea, the United States, and Europe.[2]

Fan is also the successor of the NCIX brand, later became the new owner after its predecessors defunct in December 2017, it is Canada’s largest e-commerce computer and electronics online store. NCIX collaborates with major global brands such as Nvidia, Apple, AMD, Intel, Samsung, Cisco, HP, and Microsoft generating over $1.6 billion in revenue during its inception.[3]

Fan who has a Vancouver-based electric vehicle company in Canada, with a successful track record and founder of three successful tech start-ups. EMOBILY his latest venture garnering interest from global investors and suppliers such as Foxconn (Apple’s contract manufacturer), NXP Semiconductors and TSMC the largest world chip maker. EMOBILY works closely with Fortune 500 companies such as Acer and Microsoft.

Fan has been recognized for his work in sustainable transportation, including being a delegate for the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) and receiving awards such as the Echelon Asia Summit 2023 Top100 and the 2035 Emobility Taiwan Global Demo Day. He is also a G20 recipient for the Young Entrepreneur Alliance fostering the betterment of humanity's future.

Early life and education

Fan was born on May 30, 1989, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He attended David Thompson Secondary School where he learned filming, animation, arts, computer electronics and mechanics. During his teenage years, he developed a strong interest in automotive and car racing, attending Indy racing events, and auto shows with his father. At 19, he built his first sports car, a MKIV Supra.

Fan in 2011 went to Los Angeles, California to pursue studies in arts, including filmmaking, animation, choreography, and choir dancing. In 2016 back in Canada, he dropped out of the Exempt Market Proficiency Course from the IFSE Institute where he was studying finance and investments under a private equity firm Triview Capital Ltd.

Career

Fan began his career as a financial analyst at Inslink Financial Group in 2009. In 2014, he founded an internet marketing company focusing on IT software and ecommerce under his name that provided sales and marketing services to small businesses and became a top affiliate marketer on the JVZoo and WarriorPlus platforms selling SaaS solution products internationally.

In 2015, Fan joined a friend's company Studio98 as a sales and PR advertisement partner, and later worked as an investment associate at Capital Street Group Investment Services Inc., focusing on North American real estate investments and financial markets. Fan has also worked as an investment broker for Permex Petroleum Corporation in the petroleum industry in the Permian Basin. After completing an IPO in 2017 through Vancouver’s Lawson Lundell law firm with Triview Capital Ltd, Fan decided to become a full-time entrepreneur after he became a millionaire by the age of 26-28.

Fan created Bestow Group in 2016, serving as a Board of Directors member, tech CEO, and venture capitalist. He is currently chairman of the Bestow Group Family Office which manages IP & trademark holdings for technology patents. During his time in private equity and family office, he saw a few deal-flow which interested him in researching more about lithium-ion battery, and cryptocurrency technology.

Fan founded Nexpress Shipping Inc in 2017, which sold many products starting from beverages, gadgets to consumer electronics. At 27 years old he purchased semiconductors and graphic processing units (GPUs) to develop cryptocurrency miners and data centers for Ethereum and Bitcoin on the blockchain. Later managing one of the world's largest electric fleets of rental e-bikes and electric scooters from Lime. The company builds and operates electric mobility systems, tests rental systems, and creates applications for municipalities in 2020.

Fan is also the director of NCIX, later became the new owner during an acquisition after its predecessors defunct in December 2017, it is Canada’s largest e-commerce computer and electronics online store company. NCIX collaborates with major global brands such as Nvidia, Apple, Samsung, HP, and Microsoft.

In 2018, Fan did a joint operation with IT Asset Partners, Inc. a California based company, which refurbishes lithium-ion batteries and recycles active materials, battery cells, electronic components, and computer chips to full circular economy in the value chain.

In 2021, he established Emobility Energy (EMOBILY), a business focused on sustainable micro-electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. Emobility develops modular EV ecosystems for low-cost, low-weight, and low-speed electric vehicles, aiming to streamline global production through boutique super factories and contract manufacturers. EMOBILY was most notably known for partnering with ByTech for Bugatti electric scooter, a luxury design high performance hypercar brand.[4]

He is the director and founding shareholder of SOLO Automotive Inc as of 2024. In 2022, he became a Top 10 recipient of the Microsoft for Startups - Founder Hub Program and delivered a TEDx talk on the future of mobility and sustainable energy in transportation after Elon Musk spoke on TED2022 in Vancouver, Canada.

Additionally, Fan’s passion has over a decade of experience in the K-pop market and designing entertainment marketing strategies. He is a global strategic advisor to South Korea’s SG Entertainment Group, which produces K-pop idols, performers, talents and creators.
