Toomaj Freydouny (born June 1) is an Iranian-German serial entrepreneur, marketing consultant, and business executive known for his contributions to the real estate, marketing, and entrepreneurship sectors. He is recognized as the co-founder and CEO of KUMMUNI, a prop-tech company specializing in furnished apartments and spaces for young professionals and international students. Freydouny holds key roles in various enterprises, serving as the founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at ARDOXSO, a founding partner at HAMRISH, and the marketing head at Cliffsburg GmbH.[1]

Freydouny is an expert at rescuing companies from financial crises and bankruptcy, and he has offered counsel and collaborated with numerous corporations, including prominent names such as Hyundai, Toyota, Irancell, MTN, and NICO.[2]

Freydouny’s influence extends across regions, as he has gained recognition throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences and events, and his insights have been featured in notable publications such as Trade World Magazine. Notably, he was recognized as the "Best Keynote Speaker" at the 1st IMBC International Conference in Iran in 2013. His achievements in marketing and strategic thinking have earned him an endorsement from the renowned marketing author Al Ries, who regards him as the premier marketing strategist in the Middle East in 2014.[3]

Early life and education

Freydouny was born and raised in Khorramabad, South of Iran, against the backdrop of the ongoing Iran-Iraq war. The turmoil of the conflict led his family to relocate to central Iran during his formative years. At 19, he moved to Tehran, where he became deeply involved in political activism, aligning himself with movements advocating for the separation of religion and politics while harboring a vision for societal reform.

In 2013, Freydouny relocated to Germany, settling in Berlin.

Freydouny holds a bachelor's degree in IT and an MBA, with additional studies in marketing at the University of Roehampton in London.

Career

Marketing consultant and strategist

Freydouny's life transformed significantly when his father gifted him "The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing." After reading the book, Freydouny contacted its author, Al Ries, securing permission to translate and share it as a blog post. This connection marked the inception of a mentoring relationship, with Al Ries imparting knowledge to Freydouny in marketing, branding, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

As Freydouny's expertise grew, he started contributing articles for minor publications, delivering presentations at conferences, and establishing himself as a distinguished figure in marketing. Trade World Magazine acknowledged him as the most proficient marketing professional, and Al Ries endorsed him as the premier marketing strategist in the Middle East, drawing media attention and enhancing his industry standing.

As an experienced marketing consultant and strategist, Freydouny has collaborated with numerous corporations and advised well-known brands, including NICO, Toyota, Hyundai, Silicon Power, and Irancell MTN. His expertise has garnered recognition from experts and academics across four continents, including the Middle East, Africa, the European Union, and Europe.

Entrepreneurship

Freydouny’s entrepreneurial journey began with the establishment of GigaFox in 1999, although the venture faced challenges and ultimately did not achieve sustained success. However, this setback was a learning experience that contributed to Freydouny’s personal and professional growth.[4]

KUMMUNI was founded on December 20, 2019, as a traditional real estate agency, focused on catering to the housing requirements of international students. However, KUMMUNI encountered severe financial difficulties and eventually declared bankruptcy in October 2020 due to mismanagement. Consequently, in 2021, Freydouny was appointed the company’s CEO, owing to his expertise in managing crises within struggling enterprises.[5]

Under Freydouny’s leadership, KUMMUNI transformed from a conventional real estate company to a prop-tech innovator. One significant innovation was "Choose Your Style," a feature allowing tenants to customize their furnished apartments at no extra cost. This differentiation strategy has positioned KUMMUNI as a unique player in the rental and furnished housing market, offering fully furnished apartments and Co-living spaces to young professionals and international students.

In addition to his role at KUMMUNI, Freydouny is the founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at ARDOXSO, a cash-free solution catering to the needs of young startups requiring marketing services. Furthermore, he is a founding partner at HAMRISH and serves as the marketing head at CLIFFSBURG GmbH.

Freydouny manages a YouTube channel called "The Market Warfare," dedicated to educating viewers about startup marketing, innovation, and market entry strategies. The channel serves as an educational platform, offering practical insights and real-world examples to assist entrepreneurs in navigating the complexities of today's competitive business landscape.
