myTukar is a digital ecosystem that covers all areas of used car purchase, financing, maintenance and selling, across all states within the Malaysian region. It was established in 2018 and is headquartered in Shah Alam, Selangor.[1] The platform serves as a full-stack solution catering to all the buying and selling needs of its customers in an easy and convenient manner. myTukar is currently a part of the Carro Group and is headed by CEO Derrick Eng.[2][3]
Under the Carro Group, myTukar is part of the largest digital used car marketplace across APAC that offers a full-stack service for all aspects of car ownership. Apart from connecting buyers and sellers nationwide, myTukar’s services also include dealership programmes, aftersales business, instant vehicle valuation, refurbishment capabilities, professional in-house and mobile vehicle inspection services, and nationwide door-step delivery service. In partnership with banks and financial service providers, the company also offers full financial products and services, ensuring limited capital is required. Since its inception in 2018, myTukar has grown to encompass over 2,600 registered dealerships, 8 Retail Experience Centres and 23 inspection centres across the nation.[4]
History
myTukar was founded in Malaysia in 2018 by Fong Hon Sum, who used to be Tan Chong Motor’s Top Sales Performer for five consecutive years. The company started out with a focus on the wholesale business, before pivoting into the retail market in April 2021. In 2019, Carro entered the Malaysian market through myTukar by investing US$30 million with the objective of digitising the used car dealer industry.[5]
Services
myTukar functions as a digital ecosystem offering transparent and efficient services to buy or sell used cars in Malaysia. It connects the buyers and sellers across the nation through an online platform. All the cars listed on the platform are myTukar Certified, which means they have undergone a comprehensive inspection, repairs and replacements and are approved by technology-backed stamps of assurance, thereby ensuring quality assurance in the form of a certificate.
myTukar Certified
myTukar has a state-of-the-art Refurbishment Centre to carry out the repair and refurbishment work on the exterior and interior – including all electronic features – according to myTukar Certified Pre-Owned standards.
All myTukar Certified cars have the following:
- 160-point inspection and report - the cars undergo a 160 point inspection. A thorough inspection and refurbishment of engine, body, brakes, gears and other exterior and interior functions and parts is done to assure quality purchase to its buyers.
- No major accident, fire or flood damage - myTukar cars are second hand cars and not accidental or damaged.
- No mileage tampering - myTukar ensures that the mileage of the cars are not being tampered for the purpose of selling. It believes in stating the exact condition of the car.
- 5-day money back guarantee - It offers a 5 day refund policy subject to meeting its terms & conditions. If the buyers do not feel satisfied with their purchase they can get a refund within 5 days from the date of purchase provided there has been no modification or alteration made to the car.
- 12-month warranty on engine and gearbox - myTukar also provides after sales service by taking up to bear the expenses arising out of any problem in the engine or gearbox within one year from the date of purchase.
Financing
myTukar also provides full financial products and services such as loans, via partner banks and our in-house Genie Financing. This allows customers the convenience of getting financing without having to go to several banks to get a loan. myTukar Sales Representatives will also handle all the paperwork, ensuring customers enjoy a hassle-free experience.
Dealers registered under myTukar can also obtain exclusive financing to purchase the cars via the company’s Genie Financing. Genie Financing provides faster and easier loan approvals provided all the required criteria are met.
Retail Business
myTukar began its retail business in April 2021 to provide quality cars to customers. To provide premium delivery services to customers, myTukar also introduced flatbed trucks to provide door-step delivery to customers.

Wholesale business
myTukar began its wholesale business by connecting car sellers and car dealers in 2018. Selling a car with myTukar begins with a thorough 160-point inspection.
Car sellers are able to either accept myTukar’s direct offer or place the car in an online bidding session, where they can connect with over 2,600 car dealers nationwide. If the car is not sold after a week or after three bidding sessions, the car must go through reinspection before it can be sold. This is to ensure that the car is in good condition and maintain the standard of myTukar guarantee.
