Manindra Kumar Roy is a Bangladeshi statistician, professor, writer and researcher. He was a long time professor of statistics at University of Chittagong. He is currently serving as the Vice Chancellor. of Ranada Prasad Shaha University. He is also the author of a few statistics books at graduate level in Bangladesh.
Early life and education
Roy obtained his master's degree from the University of Dhaka (DU) in 1970. In 1978, he obtained PhD in Economical Cybernetics (Related with Statistical Inference, Minimax in Estimation) from Kiev Government University. A video feature and article on his personal life was published in Prothom Alo newspaper.[1]
Career
Roy began his teaching career by joining University of Dhaka after completing Masters degree in 1972. Later that year, he join University of Chittagong as Lecturer of Statistics. After completing his PhD, we continued teaching and research work at University of Chittagong. He was promoted to Professor in 1992. On completion of long 42 years of teaching he retired from University of Chittagong in 2014 and joined Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University as Professor of Statistics. In 2016, he joined Ranada Prasad Shaha University (RPSU) as acting Vice-Chancellor. In August 2017, he was officially appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Ranada Prasad Shaha University of Ranada Prasad Shaha University for 4 years.[2]
He is elected member[3] of International Statistical Institute and was awarded "Ekushey Padak" by University of Chittagong for authoring a research oriented book on statistics. He is also member of the academic council of International Standard University (ISU).[4]

Besides, about 51 of his research papers have been published in various national and international journals. He wrote the article on the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics in Banglapedia and co-authored its article on statistics.[9][10]
