HCI College is a vocational school that provides educational training to students for various careers in the healthcare and technology fields.[1] The college offers programs in Nursing, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Medical Assisting, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Veterinary Assisting.[2]

Overview

HCI College was established in 1993 and is being helmed under the leadership of its Chairman Steve Hart and CEO and President, Pedro C. De Guzman. HCI College has two locations in Florida, with its main campus in West Palm Beach and a branch campus in Fort Lauderdale.[3]

HCI College aims to provide education and training to students for a career in various areas within the healthcare and technical fields and prepare them for employment that serves the community. The curriculum of these programs is designed to impart the knowledge and skills required for professional practice while also instilling values of higher education and social responsibility in graduates.[4]

History

HCI College began as Health Career Institute (HCI) in 1993, initially providing American Heart Association (AHA) programs on a custom basis for physicians, nurses, and EMS providers.[5]

The college introduced an EMT program in 2002 and a paramedic program in 2005.

The college moved to more extensive facilities to accommodate the growing number of programs and students. In 2013, HCI College implemented a nursing program and expanded its focus on quality education.[6]

In 2021, HCI College introduced the Medical Assisting Diploma program at its Fort Lauderdale Campus, and in 2022, it launched the Veterinary Assisting Diploma program at both campuses.

Accreditations

The HCI College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission for Independent Education, Florida Department of Education, also licenses HCI College.

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredits the Paramedic program at HCI College upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
