Ferhan Patel is a Canadian entrepreneur, investor, digital marketing consultant, product strategist, and Fintech professional. Patel currently serves as the CEO of GHL Experts, a boutique marketing consultant helping marketing agencies scale through automation.[1]

Prior to GHL Experts, Patel was the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Trolley.com (formerly Payment Rails), building the global payouts platform for the internet economy to simplify cross-border payments.[2] Patel has gained recognition as an experienced Fintech professional and influencer. He is an active speaker at major conferences and workshops on topics of risk and fraud monitoring, e-wallets, emerging payments technology in Canada and the US.[3]

Early life and education

Patel graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from Ivey Business School at Western University, and a Bachelor of Computer Science from Concordia University.

Career

After completing his degree in Computer Science, Patel joined Concordia University as an lab instructor in the department of Computer Science. He worked at the university for 2 years and later in 2005, joined TEKsystems as a Business Systems Analyst, working with a large US health insurance company.[4]

Patel’s Fintech career started in 2006 when he joined a fintech startup in the e-wallet payment processing space. During his 10 years tenure at the company, Patel grew to the roles of product manager, director of marketing, and product management and finally left the company while working as the director of risk and compliance management. During this period the company grew from 6 employees to over 200 employees and won the Technology Company of the Year award and Chamber of Commerce Alpha Award for Excellence in Consumer Products.[5]

Years 2015-2019, Patel served as an advisor and mentor at District 3 Innovation, Founders Institute, and CityParking.[6]

In July 2015, Patel co-founded Trolley (formerly Payment Rails) as Chief Product Officer, an API-first payouts platform that enables companies to send fast and low-cost payouts to on-demand workers, suppliers, and employees globally. In 2017, Patel raised investment and brought on board the ex-President of Paypal/ex-CEO of Yahoo.com Scott Thompson as an investor and board advisor.[7]

In 2018, Patel joined the Wizards of Social as a digital marketing consultant and gained experience working as a marketing strategist in the B2C and B2B marketing space.

In 2022, Patel joined GHL Experts as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). GHL Experts is a boutique marketing consultancy helping marketing agencies scale through realizing their full automation and technological potential.

Apart from his career as a successful Fintech professional, Patel is also an active speaker at conferences and has presented for several workshops on topics ranging from risk and fraud monitoring, e-wallets, and emerging payments technology in Canada and US.He has presented to members of the Competition Bureau, FINTRAC, Department of Finance, OSFI, Ivey Business school, and McGill University.[8][9]

Patel is an accredited Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Anti-Money Laundering Certified Associate (AMLCA).
