Dr. Olalekan Ojo Ogungbemi (born 13 May 1989) is an award-winning Nigerian medical doctor, humanitarian expert, and author.[1] He is the founder of Moole Foundation, an international non-profit organization working to spread medical awareness in Nigeria and providing basic healthcare solutions to people.

Dr. Ogungbemi currently works at NHS Education Scotland, along with managing his NGO. He is also a member of the Palmrock Group. He specializes in diseases with a complex course and providing emergency qualified assistance to the patients.

Dr. Ogungbemi is the recipient of the Sustainable Development Goal Award and has been featured in several media outlets such as Guardian,[2] Daily Trust,[3] PM News Nigeria, NNN,[4] Tribune, Vanguard, and others.[5]

Early life and education

Ogungbemi was born on 30 May 1989 to Kayode Ogunbemi and Joke Ogungbemi. His father is a retired renowned clinical psychologist, and his mother is a primary and secondary school proprietor. He grew up in Kaduna with three siblings, two sisters, and a brother who are also doctors.

To complete his secondary education, Ogungbemi enrolled in a boarding school, which later turned out to be one of the major life experiences for him, shaping his journey as a doctor and a philanthropist. He completed his high school education at Stella Maris College and then enrolled in the Igbinedion University to acquire a bachelor’s degree in Medicine. Soon after that, he went to the University of South Wales, where he did MSC in Public Health and then lastly to John Hopkins University to pursue MAS in Humanitarian Health.[6]

Career

Ogungbemi started his career in 2014 at the University of Abuja for a one-year internship where he worked as a medical doctor.[7]

In 2016, Ogungbemi joined the Ibolda Hospital, where he worked for over a year as a medical officer. In the same year, he founded the Moole Foundation with the aim to fill the gaps in the Nigerian healthcare system and offer free-of-cost screening and diagnosis services to the natives. During the covid19 pandemic, Ogungbemi encouraged the general public to follow necessary methods in order to stay safe and avoid infection.[8]

In 2019, Dr. Ogungbemi worked at Garki hospital in Abuja as a Medical officer. Since then he has worked at the National health service England (NHS England). As of now, Dr. Ogungbemi is working and training with NHS Education Scotland and is a member of the Palmrock Group.
