Igbinedion University, Okada, often known as IUO, is a university in Nigeria that is privately owned. The Federal Government of Nigeria issued a certificate of approval on May 10, 1999, which was followed by the founding and establishment of the company on the same day. The certificate was numbered 001. Igbinedion University was thus the first private university in Nigeria to be granted a licence, and on Friday, October 15, 1999, the foundation students began arriving at Okada. Okada, which serves as the administrative centre of the Ovia North-East Local Government Area in Edo state, is home to the university. Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion CFR, a philanthropist, and a Chief of Benin were responsible for the establishment of the institution.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) and the appropriate professional organisations have granted the University's graduate and undergraduate programmes their respective accreditations.
