Dr. Jay Bhaumik is an entrepreneur with experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, technology, cybersecurity and real estate development operations. He is the president of Thesis Pharma Ventures.
Education and Career
Dr. Jay Bhaumik holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University and a Master’s Degree in Information Systems. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has over 10 years of experience in clinical research and has worked at Johns Hopkins University and Yale University.[1]
Dr. Bhaumik also holds entrepreneurial experience.[2] He founded Onexte Consulting, which provided cybersecurity, enterprise automation, digital transformation, and managed security services, and saw the company through a successful acquisition in 2024.[3] He founded auNext Solutions LLC, focused on recruitment in healthcare. Clients include Duke University, UCLA, Cedars Sinai, UNC and many other academic hospitals.[4]
Dr. Bhaumik’s portfolio companies include Texas Star Pharmacy in Plano, Texas, which specializes in customized compounding solutions and personalized patient care.[5] The regional pharmacy serves clientele across Texas and several other states.[6]
Texas Star pharmacy has been in operation since 2011 and under current management since 2018.[7] The pharmacy was placed on the “Top 100 Fastest Growing Healthcare Companies in the Country” according to Inc. Magazine and “Top 10 Compounding Pharmacies” lists according to Healthcare Business Review.[8][9] As the CEO, Dr. Bhaumik is responsible for product roadmaps, strategic growth initiatives, innovation, sales strategy transformation, and compliance. His personal business ethos “Innovation, Customization, Collaboration” is applied to the company’s work in enhancing patient care through “meeting patients' unique needs with tailored healthcare solutions”.[5]
Additionally, since 2019, Dr. Bhaumik has served as the CEO and managing partner of New Star Med Spa, based in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area.[10] He is also an Investor and Manager at Proem Holding LLC.
Additional Activities
Dr. Bhaumik has hiked over 60 national parks. He has additional interests in photography and tennis.[8]
