David Mitchell (born 9 February 1993) better known by his stage name Call Me Hood is an American musical artist, musician, producer, director, entrepreneur, actor, investor and internet personality.[1] He is best known for rap music, prank calls, and comedy videos. Call Me Hood started his singing career in 2015 and gained significant attention for his music style that connects with the listeners. He has pushed his artistic expression in mainstream music, which has been inspired by 2Pac, Baby Keem, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Kendrick Lamar and others.

Right from the beginning, he has been releasing his music on YouTube and is also available on all major digital music streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes. Call Me Hood also shares prank call videos and they have been popular on YouTube.[2]

Early life and education

Call Me Hood was born on February 19, 1993 in Omaha, Nebraska. Right from his childhood, he used to find creative ways to connect with technology and video gaming. He was also inclined towards fashion, from his school days, he always tied to the best dressed and picked out his outfit the day before.

Call Me Hood also had a keen interest in music, but he thought becoming a rapper is not an easy thing.

Career

Call Me Hood had aspirations to become a rapper from his school times, however he quit music and started focusing on creating gaming videos on YouTube. Within a year, he was able to build a following of 200,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.[3] The aspirations to become a music artist eventually led him to lose interest in creating YouTube gaming videos.[4]

He quit Youtube after getting inspired by Kendrick Lamar, a rapper gamer who gained recognition from his creative sound and rap songs. Call Me Hood realized that becoming a rapper is not difficult and he needs to believe in himself. He bought studio equipment with the help of income from his Youtube channel.

His entire career got jump started again after meeting one of his inspirations, Baby Keem, after Baby Keem reached out to Call Me Hood on Instagram. Since then, Call Me Hood has been continuing to build up his following and grow his career.

In 2022, Call Me Hood started his own record label, Share fruit records LLC, and started producing his own instrumentals, engineering, and editing music videos.

Personal life

Call Me Hood is married to Jessica Mitchell. The couple have two sons David Mitchell and Exton Mitchell.
