The term "video game" refers to an electronic game in which the player interacts with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device – in order to provide visual feedback. This feedback is shown on a visual display device, such as a television set, a monitor, a tablet, or a virtual reality headset, among other things. Video games are often enhanced with aural feedback given via speakers or headphones, as well as with other sorts of input, such as haptic technologies, to enhance the whole experience.

Video games are classified according to their platform, which includes arcade video games, console video games, and personal computer (PC) video games, among others. More recently, the sector has grown into mobile gaming, which includes smartphones and tablet computers, virtual and augmented reality systems, and remote cloud gaming, among other technologies. Depending on the sort of gameplay and the aim of the game, video games are classed into a broad variety of genres.
