Aashik Rahman is an Indian engineer, educator, and social entrepreneur known for his work in advancing STEM-based learning in schools. He is the founder of Propeller Technologies, an educational technology company that establishes innovation and robotics laboratories across India.[1]

Rahman is also the co-founder of Zafi Robots and the founder and CEO of Zentrix India, both of which focus on robotics, artificial intelligence, and career-oriented learning programs.[2]

Early life and education

Rahman was born in southern India and grew up in a rural village. His interest in technology developed during childhood through experiments with mechanical components and basic electronic devices. He later pursued a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, where he undertook projects involving automation and applied problem-solving.

Career

Rahman began his professional career as an engineer before moving into the education sector. In 2012, he founded Propeller Technologies with the objective of integrating hands-on STEM education into school curricula. The company designs and installs STEM and robotics laboratories aimed at encouraging experiential learning. It has established more than 800 STEM labs under Rahman’s leadership, reaching approximately 380,000 students across India.[3]

Rahman co-founded Zafi Robots, which develops automation and AI-driven robotic systems for practical applications. He also established Zentrix India, a learning and innovation centre that promotes technology-oriented education and 21st-century skills.

Robo Aashik’s STEM Labs, has been implemented in more than 490 schools.[4][5] The program focuses on introducing students to robotics, scientific thinking, and problem-solving through structured curricula and hands-on training.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26]

Initiatives and impact

Rahman’s team has developed STEM learning modules introduced from the primary school level, offering gradual exposure to science, programming, and engineering concepts. Their implementation model includes teacher training, curriculum alignment, and lab-based instructional methods. Some schools using these programs have reported increased student participation in competitions, project work, and other academic activities.

His organizations have worked with schools in both rural and urban regions, particularly in Tamil Nadu and Telangana.[27] Rahman has also been involved in creating STEM programs adapted for visually impaired students.[28]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, his team developed service robots that were used in hospitals for the delivery of medicines and essential supplies.

Rahman’s companies have collaborated with corporate groups—including Amazon, TCS, TVS, and UltraTech Cement—through CSR initiatives that have supported the establishment of technology and innovation labs in underserved schools. These collaborations have facilitated access to STEM learning resources in remote areas.

Educational approach

Rahman’s educational philosophy emphasizes creativity, experimentation, and early exposure to technology. His learning framework encourages students to identify real-world problems and develop technological solutions through hands-on, project-based learning.
