Yves Hayat is a French artist, born in Cairo (Egypt) in 1946.

Career

Yves Hayat was born in Egypt in 1946. At the age of 10, after the Egyptian revolution of 1952 his family left Cairo for the South of France.

From 1967 he studied art at the Ecole nationale des arts décoratifs of Nice[1] . In 1973, Hayat chose to go into advertising and marketing, which led him to open his own agency. His experience in this domain enabled him to discover and learn to master the new forms of material and technology. After 25 years, he decided to return to Art and improve his artist's statement.

From 2003 to 2006, he takes the artistic direction of the contemporary art magazine "Art Jonction"[2]

Artist's statment

Hayat's art focuses on the current state of the world, of this ultra-media universe, of its domination by the image, the icons of appearance, luxury, war ... Yves Hayat stages his works. Using superimpositions, shifts, misappropriations and transparencies, he confronts beauty and horror, indifference and fanaticism, luxury and violence, thus facing the viewer with human ambivalence and the contradictions of this world.
