Victor Migalchan (born March 15, 1986) is an American Film Director, Producer, Writer, EMMY Awards Judge, and Actor of European descent, known for his achievements on stage, film, television and international business.[1] His work is characterised by references to authentic cultures, popular culture and film genres, non-linear storylines, dry humour, extended dialogue and mathematical way of story creation.[2] Victor Migalchan's diverse background includes fluency in multiple languages and extensive training in business, negotiations, martial arts and film.[3]

His journey began with his accomplishments as a competitive martial artist and television personality, which eventually led him to the lead role in the official documentary "Shadow Warrior." The film, released by the Confucius Institute in the European Union and China, showcases Victor Migalchan's rise and development, the influence of Martial Arts, his multicultural family, Chinese culture, and his international background.[4] The documentary brought him international recognition, and he has since appeared in various Los Angeles-based film and television productions.[5]

Some of Victor Migalchan's first notable works include TV shows on "News of the World and "TVR," as well as television programs on CCTV, Hunan TV, and Guangdong TV (China). He has produced and hosted television programs, including "The Real Deal of Hollywood," "News of the World: Travel," and "Red Carpet of Hollywood." Additionally, he has produced and starred in numerous commercials.

Victor Migalchan has directed multiple television series, including "My American Family," "Dragon Chef," "Life Academy," the talent show "OnAir," "Futurization," "Fashion Insider," “Modern Kung Fu” and two documentary feature films, showcasing life stories of the MMA legend and World Martial Arts Champion Cung Le and American engineer, inventor and Oculus VR Co-Founder Jack McCauley. Victor Migalchan's efforts extend beyond the entertainment industry, as he is an advocate for education and a vocal opponent of hate and violence.

Early life and education

Victor Migalchan was born in Europe on 15 March 1986 and was exposed to various cultures from a young age. At age 4, he developed an interest in surrounding cultures as well as Chinese culture, which led him to study its history and philosophy. He began his physical training with his grandfather, a military veteran. He began studying martial arts at the age of six, initially focusing on Shotokan Karate and kickboxing. However, having his passion in traditional Chinese martial arts he became a disciple of his first Shifu at 13.

In 2005, Victor Migalchan won his first national Martial Arts Champion title, which he held for eight consecutive years. In the same year, he created his first film in order to promote martial arts, dignity, morality and a healthy lifestyle. In 2011, he won his first World Champion title, with two of his students also winning three gold and one silver medals. He was invited to compete at the US Open Martial Arts tournament in New York in 2013, where he won gold medals in both Taolu (technical) and Sanda (free fight) programs, becoming the overall champion. He continued to win and confirm his world and international champion titles in 2015 and 2017. His achievements as a martial artist were widely recognized, and his life stories and accomplishments were featured in several media outlets and awards, including UC Berkeley Award, TaiChi Kungfu Magazine, Hollywood Weekly, Hollywood Times, La Wire, The New York Times and many others.

In 2015, Migalchan moved from New York City to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry, building upon his achievements as a competitive martial artist and business specialist.

Career

Victor Migalchan has developed a successful career as a director, showrunner, writer, producer, EMMY Awards judge and actor in the United States.[6] After moving from New York to Los Angeles in 2015, he produced several shows for News of The World, including Real Deal of Hollywood, Red Carpet of Hollywood, and News of the World: Travel. In 2019, he began developing his first scripted show, My American Family TV Series, which was released to critical acclaim in March 2021 in the US, UK, and Brazil. Since then, Victor Migalchan has created and filmed multiple pilots and shows, including Modern Kungfu, which addresses social issues such as foster family abuse, anxiety, depression, suicidal tendencies among kids, toxic relationships, and detachment from cultural heritage.[7]

He has directed a pilot of the show “Futurization”, a business development TV show that connects traditional businesses with Web3 and NFT opportunities, as well as “Fashion Insider,” a fashion TV show that focuses on training and mentoring talents to become professional commercial models. In addition, he has produced season 1 of the cooking show Dragon Chef, which aims to connect people from different cultural backgrounds through cuisine, and Life Academy, an educational TV show for kids and teens that offers quality education in domains such as mental health and wellness, photography, self-expression, acting, stage speech and presentation, business, finance, marketing, physical health, nutrition, exercise, and martial arts. Finally, Migalchan has also produced OnAir, a talent show that aims to practically mentor and prepare aspiring talents for their development in the entertainment industry.[8]

In 2023, Migalchan is working on a new TV show with the London Fashion Week team called "The New Face of the Fashion World," bringing European model coaches and fashion designers to the US to discover new talents and disrupt the industry. He is also working on two documentary feature films, one based on the life story of MMA legend, World Champion, and Hollywood action star Cung Le, and the other based on the life story of an American engineer, inventor, and Co-Founder of Oculus VR, Jack McCauley.[9] Under the support and supervision of Rabbi Abba Perelmuter, Victor Migalchan is developing another documentary called Heritage: Stories of Children of Holocaust Survivors, which aims to connect children of Holocaust survivors with modern children to exchange knowledge and teach the younger generation to appreciate life, their country, and peace. Understanding the importance and impact of animation, Victor Migalchan is currently developing a new educational animation series for children Anie and Axie.

Being an environmentalist, Victor Migalchan, together with Cung Le and his team, is developing a new water purification and desalination technology and a TV show around it’s development, in order to help provide Americans and then citizens of the other countries with pure water.[10]

Personal life

In his public and professional life, Victor Migalchan focuses on promoting education and fights against any type of hate and violence. Victor Migalchan is an environmentalist and currently works on development of a new and revolutionary water purification system.

Awards

Victor Migalchan has won numerous international titles and awards for his accomplishments in martial arts and film. He won the World Martial Arts Champion title five times from 2011 to 2017. Additionally, as a director and showrunner, he has received multiple awards from various film festivals.[11]
