Super Soul Party is a non-profit organization that connects homeless individuals with their communities through annual Super Bowl celebrations in every state.[1][2][3][4][5]

Overview

Meir Kay developed the non-profit Super Soul Party, which emphasizes restoring participants' dignity through the event.[6] Kay was inspired to create Super Soul Party in 2017 when he met a homeless man in New York City who did not seek money or food but only desired to be acknowledged.[7][8] Kay's offer of lunch and chat with the man inspired him to establish a non-profit organization that provides a secure and inviting location for the homeless to interact with others.[9]

What began as a single event in New York City has become an annual Super Bowl party for the homeless nationwide.[10] The party offers visitors a dinner, a haircut, and the chance to socialize while watching the big game. The event provides those excluded and neglected with a sense of humanity.[11][12][13][14]

Super Soul Party provides visitors with resources and assistance, such as dignity bags containing personal hygiene supplies, mental health counseling, and other services for individuals battling addiction and housing challenges.[15][16] The non-profit has collaborated with groups such as Hanes For Good, Elitra Health, In Search of More, and 7th Heaven Chocolate for clothing drives and additional support.[17][18][19]

Since its inception in 2017, Super Soul Party has extended to 36 cities and has got registered as a non-profit company in 2019.[20] In addition to New York City, Super Soul Parties have been held in Montana, Louisville, Wisconsin, Winston Salem, Kentucky, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Boseman, North Carolina, Lakewood, New Jersey, and Connecticut.[21][22] The organization's mission is to host additional events throughout the year while guaranteeing its long-term viability.[23][24][25] The organization also accepts donations to the cause, and individuals can volunteer at any Super Soul Party site.[26][27]
