Steven McCoy (born 19 July 1988) is an American entrepreneur, journalist, talk show host, philanthropist and author.[1] He is the founder of Spoken Entertainment, a leading YouTube Broadcast Channel and Sessions with Steven, an Apple iTunes Talk Show. McCoy is often seen at the charity events to raise awareness for Retinitis Pigmentosa.[2]

McCoy is best known for his popular show Sessions with Steven that regularly features personal interviews with prolific media and public figures.[3] He has been featured in several media outlets including IB Times, Thrive Global, Influencive, Net News Ledger, CNN, Yahoo News and others.[4]

Early life and education

McCoy was born on 19 July 1988 and grew up in Newark, New Jersey. During his childhood, McCoy was diagnosed with hearing issues.

After completion of high school, McCoy enrolled at Essex County College, where he pursued an associate’s degree in Communications, Liberal Arts. During his time at this college, he was also a member of the Film Club. McCoy simultaneously also pursued certificate courses while completing his degree. In 2010, he did a certificate course in Communications at Stevenson’s University, and in 2012, he did a certificate course in Marketing at Disney University.[5]

Career

McCoy started his career in 2008 as a Theater Coordinator and Counselor at Vacamas. He worked for over a year with this company, during which he tutored children from k-3rd grade. He was responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate program activities and enforcing proper health and safety standards at the premises.[6]

In 2009, McCoy joined Warner Bros. Records as a Personal Assistant and Videographer. He worked for a year at this firm, during which he worked for Warner Bros artist Outasight, recording all behind the scenes footage.

In 2011, McCoy founded Spoken Entertainment, a leading YouTube Broadcast where he interviews prolific public figures, in an attempt to inspire his viewers by sharing the success stories of prominent figures. Since the inception of this popular broadcast channel, McCoy has been solely responsible for writing, editing, and revising body copy for articles.

McCoy joined The Walt Disney Company in 2012 as a Guest Service Person. In 2013, McCoy took up several positions. He joined BET NETWORKS as a script writer, worked for The Disney Store as a Sales Associate, joined Radio Disney as a Promotions Assistant and then as a host, worked as a Freelance Editor for Fox Searchlight Pictures amongst other things. In 2014, he again worked as a Guest Service Person for Disney Theatrical Productions.

In 2015, McCoy was appointed as the Senior Editor of Entertainment Scoop, where he worked for over three years. During his tenure at this firm, McCoy was responsible for editorial planning and scheduling, content and news publishing, conducting interviews, and social media management.

In 2016, McCoy started a Talk Show on iTunes titled Sessions with Steven, which has been highly acclaimed amongst the masses. He is even working on releasing the book titled “Sessions with Steven: The Lie I Almost Lived To Get Ahead” in 2021.

Personal Life

McCoy suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa and Usher syndrome. McCoy regularly holds charity events as an attempt to help people with disabilities and disorders.
