Wee Yao Liang (born May 28, 1997), better known by his online Alias, Sky Wee, is a Singapore-based Asian gaming influencer, entrepreneur, Facebook Streamer[1] and internet celebrity. He is the founder of a pro esport team named Almghty (AMT) and Nixgen Entertainment, a subsidiary of Gushcloud International[2] known for offering talent management services.[3][4]

Wee is recognized as an English-speaking Facebook streamer in South-East Asia and has acquired a vast social media following of over 1.3 Million on Facebook[5] and over 300K on other channels - Youtube, Instagram,[6][7] and TikTok.[8] He was also voted the #1 KOL in Mobile Legends Bang Bang[9] in Singapore.[10][11][12][13]

Early life and education

Wee was born on May 28, 1997, in Singapore and grew up as the only child of the family. After completing his high school education, We enrolled in the Institute of Technical Education acquiring a certificate in HR and Business.[14] Later he went to Republic Polytechnic but could not complete his Diploma due to the outbreak of the worldwide COVID pandemic.[15][16]

Career

Wee started his career in 2013 as a business operation manager for Premier Pure Pte Ltd, where he worked for over three years in the Sales & HR department.[17] Wee then joined APBA Pte Ltd as an intern where he served for three months. In 2016, Wee became a business manager for Bio Globe Singapore, where he worked for two years - helping the company streamline marketing operations and facilitating training sessions.[18][19]

In 2017, Wee got seriously inclined towards playing trendy mobile games and began his journey as a gamer[20] and social media influencer. He soon entered the competitive pro scene during the Mobile Legends League called the MPL.[21][22]

In 2018, Wee began curating unique social media content especially for YouTube, and then eventually drifted into Facebook Gaming.[23] He has earned over a million followers within three years.[24]

In 2021, Wee also started creating engaging TikTok content, focusing primarily on gaming & lifestyle and engaging brands on paid promotional content as a KOL.[25] In the same year, he also became a business partner and social media influencer for Gushcloud. Wee also founded Nixgen Entertainment, a brand of Gushcloud International[26] recently, which offers bespoke talent management services.[27]

He is the co-founder of esports team Almghty (AMT)

Wee is the co-founder of an NFT game named Metahunters with Allen Tan Chee Hoe along with pursuing his new ventures in the gaming industry.

Charitable work

Wee is passionate about giving back to society. He participated in the PVP Esports Community Championships to raise funds for charitable organizations.[28] He is also involved in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 2020 Singapore Christmas Charity Showmatch to raise funds for “children with chronic illnesses and their families. Wee also took part in PATSG,[29] an all-online esports show, to raise funds for home-based nursing, migrant workers, and other vulnerable populations in Singapore. 20% of the funds raised will help Zenway productions to support operating expenses while the remaining 80% will be channeled to Community Chest.[30]

Wee is passionate about playing online games and is often seen exploring new games in the market.

Wee has endorsed various advertisements campaigns such as TUMI, Huawei, Sony, CODASHOP, RazerGold, ONE Esports, MeWatch, PVP Esports,[31] VNG Games, Apol Chair, and Shopee.[32]

Public Image

During a voting contest run by Mobile Legends bang bang for the M3 Campaign, polls have shown that Wee is one of the most well-liked Influencers.[33] He had won the most voted influencer in Singapore and secured Top 9 ranking among all the other influencers.[34]

AMT

In 2019, Wee co-founded a lifestyle brand and gaming organization based in Singapore called Divinity Esport.[35] The organization has teams competing in several mobile games, including Mobile Legends Bang Bang,[36] Call of duty mobile, Freefire and Pubg Mobile. The esport team was bought over by Gushcloud International and rebranded to Almghty (AMT).[37][38]

Nixgen Entertainment

In 2021, Wee co-founded a lifestyle brand and gaming talent organisation based in Singapore. The company was co-founded alongside by Gushcloud International.[39]

Metahunters

In 2022, Wee co-founded a NFT game named Metahunters alongside with Allen Tan Chee Hoe. Metahunters is a play-to-earn NFT game where players can do trading and battling.[40] It allows players to collect, breed, raise, battle, and trade creatures known as "pets", which are digitized as NFTs.[41] Wee and the team aimed to create an opportunity for millions of people who missed the opportunity in this space.[42]
