Semantic SEO Podcast is a podcast co-hosted by James Dooley, a Manchester-based entrepreneur and SEO strategist, and Koray Tuğberk GÜBÜR, a Turkey-based SEO researcher and founder of Holistic SEO & Digital. The series launched on 1 December 2025 as part of the James Dooley Podcast Network.[1][2][3][4]

Overview

The Semantic SEO Podcast was created to address a widening gap between commonly shared SEO advice and how modern information retrieval systems actually function.[5] As search engines and large language models (LLMs) increasingly evaluate content based on entities, context, and relationships rather than isolated keywords, the podcast aims to provide practitioners with frameworks that reflect this shift.[6]

The series is structured around the convergence of hands-on SEO implementation and research-driven principles from information retrieval and natural language processing. Episodes explore how entities, attributes, and semantic triples influence query interpretation, ranking stability, and topical authority. Episodes run between 30 and 120 minutes, with longer runtimes reserved for deep technical topics and analysis of Google patents.[7]

Hosts

James Dooley

James Dooley is a UK-based entrepreneur, investor, and SEO practitioner based in Manchester, England. He is the founder and CEO of FatRank and PromoSEO, two performance marketing agencies operating on a no-win-no-fee lead generation model. Dooley founded FatRank on 7 September 2007 and incorporated PromoSEO on 12 July 2010. He specialises in large-scale content ecosystems, semantic optimisation, and digital real estate. He contributes practitioner-led insights to the podcast grounded in real-world execution across more than 650 industries.[8]

Koray Tuğberk GÜBÜR

Koray Tuğberk GÜBÜR is a Turkish SEO researcher, entrepreneur, and founder of Holistic SEO & Digital, which he officially established on 21 September 2020.[9] He is based in Istanbul, Turkey. He is widely credited with pioneering the concept of Topical Authority — a semantic SEO methodology he formally defined on 18 May 2022 — which frames how search engines evaluate content coverage, entity relationships, and historical publishing consistency.[10][11][12][13]

GÜBÜR began his career in black-hat SEO before transitioning to white-hat methodologies following major algorithm updates in 2018. He has since published more than 120 SEO case studies covering over half a million words, and is known for interpreting Google patents and translating them into applied SEO frameworks. His agency has consulted for Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of additional clients across e-commerce, B2B, and retail verticals. He has been recognised as a finalist for the European Search Awards, listed among the Top 202 SEO Experts by Search Engine Journal, and chosen as Serpstat's most-read author in 2020.[14]

GÜBÜR has spoken at major industry events including SEO Mastery Summit (Saigon), SEO Estonia, WhitePress conferences (Zakopane, Dubai, Sofia, Budapest, Birmingham), and the Chiang Mai SEO Summit. He also created the Topical Authority Semantic SEO Course, consisting of over 120 lectures.[15][16]
