Sébastien Gouspillou (born in August 1969) is a French Bitcoin miner, entrepreneur, and speaker.[1] He is the founder of BigBlock Datacenter and also serves as the CEO of BBGS. Gouspillou is often seen addressing large crowds at public events, podcasts, and tv shows, sharing his expert knowledge on the topics of Bitcoin and the Energy market.

He is considered one of the ambassadors of sustainable investment in Bitcoin mining in France.[2] His experience in the sustainable agroforestry industry has showcased the Bitcoin mining industry as an opportunity to capture excess energy, whilst at the same time promoting renewable solutions.[3][4]

Early life and education

Gouspillou was born in France in August 1969. He holds a master's degree in marketing management from ICSV Lyon.

Career

In 2017, Gouspillou began mining Bitcoin in Odesa, Ukraine, and Nantes, France. Big Block Data Center was developed by him to make Bitcoin mining more accessible and to provide investment opportunities.[5] Gouspillou eventually met Emmanuel de Merode, who is well known for founding Virunga National Park - the world's first 100% sustainable Bitcoin mining plant.[6] Gouspillou's setup in Virunga is widely regarded as one of the best demonstrations of Bitcoin mining's utility, and all Bitcoiners use it as a debunking example against all existing Bitcoin prohibitions.[7]

Gouspillou firm, Big Block Data Center since its inception has developed multiple data centers across the world including Kazakhstan, Russia, France, Ukraine that all have contributed collectively to bring about a green revolution and sustainable practices be it offering cheap electricity, or revolutionizing the use of hydroelectric power.[8]

In 2022, a group of independent Bitcoiners began a petition to award Sébastien Gouspillou the Legion d'Honneur for his efforts in promoting the benefits of Bitcoin mining as a proponent of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, which were established in 2015.[9]

Gouspillou has also become well known for his speeches as an industry expert - sharing his extensive knowledge and experience, actively promoting the advantages of leveraging the power of cryptocurrency to adopt and practice sustainability.[10]
