Raj Kosaraju is an Indian business executive, writer, and philanthropist.[1][2][3][4] He is currently serving as the CIO of Maxil Technology Solutions Inc., a company based in Chicago, US.[5] He has over two decades of experience in Cloud Computing, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Product Management.[6] Kosaraju, throughout his career, has worked for several prolific firms, which include Zee Plus, Kinetic Engineering Ltd, and Nexis, to name a few.[7][8]

Under the leadership of Kosaraju, Maxil got ranked 148 on the 2005 Deloitte Technology’s 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America list.[9] It also ranked 411 in the Inc top 500 of the fastest growing companies in the US and North America. Inc. magazine also ranked Maxil Technology Solution Inc at 3352 on its 35th annual Inc. 5000, October (18-20) 2016 in San Antonio, which is the most prestigious ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. He also has extensive experience in telecommunications and enterprise information technology domains in the US and Latin America.[10]

Kosaraju is the recipient of the Alfred C Sloan Award for Workplace Excellence and was also one of the Nominees for the 20th Ernst & Young Entrepreneur awards program.[11]

Early life and education

Kosaraju grew up in Chennai (Madras), where he completed his primary education from Boston Matriculation School and then moved to Kolkata (Calcutta), where he studied upto 7th standard at St. Lawrence High School. Kosaraju completed the senior years of high school in Jabalpur (M.P.) from Christ Church Boys Higher Secondary School.

After that, Kosaraju enrolled in the Shivaji University Kolhapur where he acquired his bachelor’s degree. In 1997, he went to UIA, Costa Rica, to acquire an MBA degree with a concentration in International Business. He then enrolled in Texas A&M University, where he did MS in Information Systems & Technology. Soon after that, he enrolled in a CMM Program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Career

Kosaraju started his career in 1988 as a Key Accounts Manager for Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers. He worked for over four years at this firm, during which he was responsible for the overall operations, logistics, sales promotions, product management and new product launches. Kosaraju was picked up as one of the junior participants and team members to represent GNFC & GNAL in the 17th National competition for young managers by All India Management Association New Delhi in Mar-April 1991 and the feather in the cap came when our Managing Director Kanak Trivedi invited me to join the Mudra presentation in Ahmedabad.[12] Raj was also involved in the three wheeler (Autorickshaw) product launch.[13]

In 1993, he started working for Kinetic engineering India as a marketing manager, where he served for over two years handling the sales officers in the South Zone.[14] Kosaraju was also on the national team for launching Kinetic Honda and Pride Scooters and even won the Highest Institutional Sales Achiever Award.[15]

After his exit from Kinetic, Kosaraju began working for Zee Plus Infocorp as a project manager. He stayed for two years with this corporation, during which he managed large-scale banking domain projects.[16] In 1997 he was promoted to the position of country manager when he trained project managers in the utilization of tools and life cycle methodologies.[17]

In 2000, Kosaraju was appointed as the Vice President of Nexis, where he served as the conceptual business advisor for projects in Business Activity Monitoring and Business Performance Management for almost two years.[18]

Kosaraju in 2001 joined Maxil Technology Solutions, Inc.[19] as a co-founder and director, where he served for four years developing IT strategies.[20] One of the Innovations is the discovery of Desktops through Linux open source.[21] Everyone’s Linux (ELX) Desktop (formerly 3T Solutions), developed in 2002 in association with Maxil Technology Solutions Inc,[22] US, a Linux-based desktop operating system that has the same functionality and features as a Windows OS along with the added feature of security and robustness.[23] Linux ELX is India’s first commercial Linux-based Operating System, which claims to match Windows by every feature and provides the additional advantages of Linux’s robustness and security.[24] Raj also involved with Windals Infotech as a overseas Director for the ITES/BPO operations in 2003. (Business World page,10, October 13, 2003) In 2005 he was promoted to the post of CIO, and since then has been undertaking strategic business initiatives to gain market traction for the company.[25]

Apart from that, Kosaraju has also participated in numerous volunteer activities for Green Fences and Crowd Crunch.[26]

Raj is focused on developing products in IT services. He serves as a CIO, an advisor and mentor at several technology incubators, start-up organizations in USA Latin America and India. He played a key role in the IPO Merger & Acquisition and subsequent integration of CTIL between 2010-2012.[27] The company went for an IPO (Initial Public Offering) and the issue was oversubscribed 11 times. All said and done Comp–U–Learn India (CTIL) became well known when its subsidiary Astus Technologies Inc.[28] a New Jersey based (IT & ITES) entered into an MoU with US–based Lending space, to develop comprehensive business process solution for the home mortgage business. CTIL[29] operates mainly in geographies like US, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle East countries.[30] He is responsible for large strategic customers in the East, West and Central territories in the U.S. and Central Americas.[31] We were proud to support the local healthcare start-ups designing products, solutions, and experiences that will improve health outcomes across the region.[32] In his last role, he was heading Strategic Alliances and has played a pivotal role in all the mergers and acquisitions, most recent being the strategic investment looking to invest in, work at, advice or network.[33]

Personal life

Kosaraju’s late father was a scientist specializing in Marine Biology. He was a PhD and Alumnus of the Liverpool University, England. Kosaraju is also a father to a son and a daughter. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
