Early life and education
Takla was born on June 19, 1984, and raised in Egypt, where he obtained a bachelor’s in pharmacy and became a pharmacist. He later relocated to the United States and studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California.
Career
Takla’s film career started with the short film The Womanizer (2020), written by Tito Todorov. It is a short comedy film about a womanizer who teams up with his protege to seduce a stripper but finds himself in a competition with another character. Over the subsequent years, Takla continued to direct music videos such as The Gift and The Most Beautiful Picture and a short film, Nightmare Day.
In 2019, Takla formed a production company called Media Awe Studios, based in Los Angeles, California. The company is a full-service media production company, providing filmmaking, commercials, music videos, events, and real estate videography and photography services.
Takla’s feature directorial debut was the 2021 drama-action film The Last Turn, about a detective investigating a suicide case, which won the Best Feature Film award at various festivals, including the Janjira International Film Festival (2022), Indie World Film Festival, and Tiber Film Awards.
Takla further released Mandy, a short film (2021), and Portrait, a short film (2022). In an interview, Takla revealed that the idea for the film Portrait came from the challenges we often face while on our path to success. The film is about an artist who loses his piece of art and learns that giving up is not an option.
Takla’s next film was the 2023 action-drama film Order to Kill, written and produced by Tito Todorov. The protagonist of the film is a former soldier who transforms into a serial murderer. In addition to suspense and drama, this film depicts a romantic relationship between the assassin and the commander's wife.
Takla has also directed the television mini-series RelationChipsy (2022) and the short film Amal (2023). His next film, Husband for Sale,[4] which he wrote and directed, is a comedy film starring Ayman Mansor, Tamer, Mina Mourice, Dina, and Mariam Bebawi. The film will release in January 2024.
