Nour Almoujabber is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and novelist. Born on 18 December 1994 in Lebanon, he studied at the Sainte Famille Wadi Chahrour school, then obtained a bachelor's degree in TV and Cinema, and a master's degree in Film Directing from the Lebanese University - Institute of Fine Arts.

Early Career

Nour Almoujabber's first short film The Stream (starring Christine Choueiri, Boutros Rouhana, Ralf Bou Chaya and Bissan Ahmad) toured the world to get Almoujabber his first awards.

In 2019, Almoujabber attended a masterclass led by Sesame Street Workshop in Jordan. Chosen amongst 20 writers from the Arab World, he co-writes Ahlan Simsim the Arabic variation of Sesame Street. The show airs soon in its seventh season.

Films and Style

In 2019, Almoujabber’s masters’ short film What’s Your Name was the key to the audience’s recognition of the writer and director’s style.

“When watching the film, the viewer lives and feels what the characters live and feel. And as the story unfolds, the dramatic arc and tension are never lost”. Original Narrative Jury, Hope Award Announcement Speech [1]

Almoujabber focuses on writing scripts in a closed space, so the viewers focus on the dialogue and the mastery of acting. What’s Your Name starred Randa Kaady and Nassib Sebaaly. [2]

The film toured 34 countries including Russia, Italy, Azerbaijan [3], The United States, Jordan, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, France, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen [4], Poland, Sweden, Canada [5] and his hometown Lebanon [6].

“... he worked within it and how the team collaborated in the making of the film that it is all shot in a single room, managing to create the right tension between the characters and telling the path of acceptance of the young man who perhaps, at the end of the short film, in front of that same camera, that same scenography, agrees to look at the black beast that grips him as a possible carrier of the same disease.” Ca’Foscari Film Festival [7]

Following his studies, Almoujabber worked on TV series as a writer, short films as a script doctor, assistant director, and editor alongside his independent short films: On The Edge (starring Sany Abdul Baki and Joseph Akiki) and Another Conversation (starring Ramy Farah) [8].

Current Work

Almoujabber joined 2Pure Studios [9] in 2022, diving in the world of voice-over writing. After a while, he worked on two consecutive docu-drama TV series. The Goal , the biography of the Saudi football legend Saeed Al Owairan, aired on Shahid (streaming platform), while the second project, currently entitled “Ghayeb” is in the preproduction phase.

The success of his short film What’s Your Name inspired Almoujabber to develop it into a feature film with the same title. He attended Rawi Residency [10] in 2022 with Royal Film Committee in Jordan.[11]

Nour Almoujabber is currently working on his first novel “The Excuses I Give Her”.
