Moe Rock is an American music producer, journalist, author, and speaker.[1] He is the CEO and publisher of the Los Angeles Tribune, the International Affairs Specialist at ALPHA CONSULT, and the Outreach Chair at TiE SoCal. Rock is recognized by MSN as one of the top 50 most influential figures in American news media. He was awarded the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joe Biden, receiving the honor from the White House in 2024. This award, established in 2003 by President George W. Bush, is the highest civic honor for volunteerism and has been upheld by all sitting U.S. Presidents since its inception.[2]
Early life and education
Rock was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up with a rich cultural background, including Jewish Azeri, Turkish, and Persian heritage. From an early age, he was influenced by authors like Earl Nightingale, which ignited his interest in the self-help genre.
Rock graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor's in business administration. He is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). In 2010, Rock earned a certified gold record as a producer in the world music genre. He has also completed the Harvard University Extended Entrepreneurship Program through edX.
Career
Early career
Rock is a seasoned entrepreneur and entertainment professional with extensive experience in music, film, and public relations. He is the founder of Moe Rock Entertainment, established in January 2009. Rock Entertainment is an entertainment company that creates internationally syndicated music and film content, reaching tens of millions worldwide through satellite television.[3] His work has earned him a certified gold record as a world producer.
In addition to his entertainment ventures, Rock has served as a PR consultant for BET Networks and members of the Royal Family of the United Arab Emirates. In 2019, Rock became CQ Infotech's chief marketing officer. His previous roles include being a program facilitator at ReverbNation (2014–2016) and a producer for Viacom (2012–2014), where he contributed to content creation for MTV artists. He also held executive producer roles at G-Unit Records and Sony Music Entertainment in 2011 and 2012.
Los Angeles Tribune
In 2019, Rock became the publisher and CEO of the Los Angeles Tribune, a news publication company based in Southern California. Rock aims to revitalize the historic publication, which has been a cornerstone of Southern California journalism for over 130 years.[4] Under his leadership, the Tribune has significantly expanded, acquiring several newspaper companies across major metropolitan areas of the United States and internationally. These include strategic acquisitions in San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, Dubai, and Shenzhen, China.[5] This expansion has diversified the Tribune's content and extended its reach, reinforcing its position as a leading news source. Rock integrates traditional journalistic integrity with modern digital advancements, which has led to a substantial increase in digital subscriptions and enhanced the Tribune's reputation for high-quality journalism.[6]
In 2024, Rock launched the "Voices for Change" initiative. The initiative proposes that the Los Angeles Tribune allocate $1 million annually in advertising resources to support non-profit organizations and community leaders addressing critical issues such as environmental sustainability, social justice, and public health. The initiative aims to enhance the visibility of such organizations across various media platforms, including newspapers, magazines, podcasts, and sponsorships for events.[7]
Rock is a staunch advocate for ethical journalism. He has been recognized multiple times with awards from the US Congress for his contributions to the media and community service. He has produced programs in collaboration with the California Secretary of State and has had photo opportunities with the Mayor of Los Angeles and the Chief of Police, highlighting his influence and connections within the community.[8]
Rock is also the host of The Moe Rock Show, an exclusive interview series airing every Tuesday at 6 p.m. PST. The show features in-depth conversations with industry leaders, where Rock delves into their insights and experiences.[9]
Other roles
Rock has been the Outreach Chair for TiE SoCal since January 2020, where he focuses on fostering entrepreneurship through education, mentoring, and networking for entrepreneurs and startup founders in the Southern California region. He also serves as an International Affairs Specialist at Alpha Consult, meeting with foreign business executives and leaders to represent business interests and foster positive international relations.[10]
Rock has been President of the World Philanthropy Group's California Chapter since 2015.[11] The World Philanthropy Group is a global NGO that supports the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
Author and speaker
Rock is a well-known figure in the world of personal development. He is a published author, having authored "The Moral Compass: 28 Principles for Integrity-Driven Leadership (2023)."[12] His recent release, "Lead by Example," has gained significant recognition and has reached number one in Amazon's self-help category.
Rock is a motivational speaker, sharing insights on leadership, personal growth, and ethical living. He has shared the stage with some of the world's most renowned speakers and figures, including Jack Canfield, Russell Brunson, Tai Lopez, Jay Abraham, Guy Kawasaki, Jeff Ma, and Bill Gates, establishing himself as a sought-after voice on global platforms. He was also a TedEx speaker in October 2023, where he spoke about "There is no greater power on this earth than story."[13][14]
Philanthropy
Rock is also a dedicated philanthropist and community leader in Southern California, supporting various charitable causes.
