Michael J. Granoff is an Israeli serial entrepreneur and business executive.[1] He is the founder and Managing Director of Maniv Mobility,[2] a Tel Aviv-based venture capital firm that invests in startups that aim at revolutionizing the mobility and technology industries.[3]
Granoff is also a founding board member of Securing America's Future Energy, a Washington, DC-based policy and advocacy organization (SAFE). He also serves on the boards of many of the mobility start-ups in the Maniv Mobility portfolio.[4]
Mr. Granoff was active in several US presidential campaigns and has garnered numerous awards, including the Asper Award for Global Entrepreneurship from Brandeis University.[5] He has also been involved in managing Val d'Or Farms which has raced and bred hundreds of pacers and trotters.[6]
Education
In 1987, Granoff enrolled in Tufts University, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business, Religion, and History. He later attented Northwestern University, where he acquired his MBA from the Kellogg School and JD from Pritzker School of Law.
Career
In 1997 Granoff established Maniv Investments, the parent company of Maniv Bioventures, Maniv Energy Capital, and Maniv Mobility.[7]
In 2007, Granoff became the first investor in the electric vehicle network comapny Better Place, where he served as both a member of the board and an executive with a focus on policy, investor relations and communications.[8]
Granoff founded Maniv Mobility in 2015, and the firm now manages over $160 million in assets, including two funds, with over a dozen global parts and car manufacturers as investors and a portfolio of over 30 companies spanning eight countries.[9] This company was founded with the goal of assisting early-stage start-ups that were pioneering the future of transportation and mobility. Maniv Mobility, under the leadership of Granoff, has garnered the support of some of the world's most prestigious automotive, transportation, infrastructure, and energy companies.[10]
Granoff has been involved in numerous non-profit organizations including Hillel, where he served as member of the board of governors, Freedom 25 which he co-founded, and he AIPAC’s New Leadership Network.[11]
Personal life
Granoff and his family emigrated to Israel from the New York area in 2013 although he maintains close ties to the US and travels there frequently. Granoff has a passionate interest in the late theater composer-lyrist Stephen Sondheim, about whom he has frequently written, a love of harness racing and he has completed over 25 marathons.
