Ishell Vaughan is an American filmmaker, cinematographer, director, photography drone operator, and entrepreneur.[1] Vaughan rose to prominence as an aerial cinematographer and since then has worked in television, theater, and film.[2] He is the founder of Ishell Vaughan Films, a media production house, and its subsidiary The Raw Sessions, a platform to encourage up-and-coming talent in the area.[3][4]

Vaughan's work combines a visually novel, explicit, and detail-oriented approach to the Western genre coupled with extensive industry expertise that has allowed him to establish himself as a pioneering creative, and visionary industry figure. Vaughan has worked with a number of notable brands/individuals such as Lamborghini, BMW, VH1, Akon, BET, MTV, French Montana, and GQ Magazine.[5][6]

Vaughan has been often praised by news media for his work, “The Source” has mentioned that “Vaughan is one of those content creators who can mold the future of hip hop”.[7][8]

Education

Vaughan graduated from DeVry University with a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Career

Prior to becoming a full-time filmmaker, Vaughan worked a 9-5 job in order to pay off his college debts. During this time, he treated videography and photography as a hobby.[9] His first paid gig as a videographer was when he shot a baby shower ceremony for a friend, which motivated Vaughan to hone his craft and follow his passion.[10][11][12]

Vaughan has since his debut in the entertainment industry filmed Army recruitment videos, popular music videos, commercial productions, and short films, and even worked on TV series and films, broadening his expertise, style, and technique.[13] Vaughan's YouTube channel has garnered over 1 million views and counting, positioning him as one of the leading figures in the industry.[14][15]

Vaughan eventually founded Ishell Vaughan Films, a media and entertainment company specializing in drone videography/photography for short films, commercials, and stock footage.[16][17] Later he also started a subsidiary, The Raw Sessions, that acts as a platform where budding artists can publish their content and get recognition in the industry.[18][19]

Vaughan has received numerous awards at the Newark Film Festival and established a reputation as a creative and imaginative industry professional with an unwavering dedication to his work.[20][21]

His most famous role was in the upcoming film My First Film. His mentor, Rock Davis, wrote and directed this movie, and he served as Director of Photography.[22][23]
