He attended Air Force School to complete a BA Honors degree in Economics. He then finished his MBA at Delhi University and received his Ph.D. in Economics.

Adawal started his career in 1978 and joined DCM products to handle sales of computers and calculators. He got four promotions in two years. In 1981, he joined Larsen & Toubro and handled national accounts. Adawal was the youngest achiever in the company to meet sales targets before the deadline. In 1987, he joined Modi Xerox, during this time reprographics was a new concept and he was the best performer in the company and was named the National Accounts Manager of the company.

In 1989, Adawal joined Nelco, a Tata group company. During his time, he led the company and was responsible for the introduction of the C-Dot technology to the industry and was able to gain some major government accounts and generated revenue of 100 crores a year. Adawal formed an alliance with Bell Canada and the foray of Tata Bell Canada’s into the GSM business, however the idea wasn't executed due to the company’s internal policies. Later he led a deal with Teleglobe of Canada and was credited with selling the first Public Switching Data Network to the Department of Telecom. He was a part of the Tata team that completed the acquisition of Teleglobe’s Data Division.

He joined Nortel in 1993 and established its liaison office. He oversaw the business' enterprise network segment and collaborated closely with BD and PR efforts with Nortel offices in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Astrologer

Shanker said that in order to become a Jyotishacharya, he had to study astrology. As the news spread, the weekends of Shanker's friends and acquaintances began to fill up with people looking for consolation and solutions, and even strangers began knocking on his door in search of methods to appease an agitated world. Astrology piqued his interest more and more as he went more into the subject matter. The more he researched, the more he felt the need to share his knowledge with others, a yearning that has culminated in the publication of 16 ground-breaking books on astrology.[11] He browsed his personal collection of 3,000 volumes, attempting to glean insight from old texts and the thoughts of sages.[12]

His techniques of prediction are based on the Bhrigu Technique, the ideas and philosophies of which have been discovered after more than two decades' worth of investigation. Because of his passion and aim to disseminate the results of his study as well as fresh perspectives that may be added to the field of astrology, he penned a great deal of literature on the subject of astrology. According to him, astrology is a complementary or alternative kind of treatment, a useful instrument that may reduce difficulties and assist individuals in becoming healthier within the boundaries and the context of their lives.

Philosopher

Adawal was inclined towards philosophy, when he sat with his father and his friends to discuss the astronomical events that were happening at the time. In his house, which was filled with a large number of books on the topic of astrology, all of the most well-known names in the area of astrology would get together. It was then that Adawal came to the realization that astrology is more concerned with the things that are inside us than with those that are in the stars. To put it more simply, it is just energy.

Adawal likes to read one of the more than 2,000 volumes that he currently has in his collection. They are not only about astrology in the limited sense, but they are also about mythology, ancient texts, and philosophy, all of which help him analyze this topic in a more holistic manner.

Now, everyone from lawmakers to Bollywood celebs seeks his advice before making decisions.

Adawal is able to publish a book each year on subjects such as Palmistry, Zodiacs, and Vedic Astrology[13] as well as the specifics underlying those topics since he writes one page per day. He has since published more than sixteen books on the topic, and he continues to perform study on the topics that fascinate him. Adawal has expressed his dream of establishing a prestigious educational institution on the banks of the Ganga river.[14]
