Dingtone is a proprietary telecommunications application operating on a freeware model offering instant communications (voice calls and texts) on mobile devices with iOS[1][2] or Android[3][4] operating system.[5][6] Dingtone was launched in 2012 by Dingtone Inc. As of 2019,[7] Dingtone serves over 100 million users globally.[8][9][10]

Dingtone includes a number of capabilities, including making phone calls,[11] sending text messages,[12] sharing multi-media content,[13] setting up conference calls,[14] and leaving voicemails to anyone, anywhere in the world for free or at low rates.[15] In addition, Dingtone’s phone number service provides users a real phone number with a local area code and allows for a second, connected number for switching between personal and business lines.[16][17][18]

Dingtone also provides a subsidiary app, Dingtone Fax, which allows users send and receive faxes without a fax machine or landline nearby.[19][20]

History

Dingtone was founded with the goal of providing flexible and economical phone services[21] over data or WiFi in order to alleviate financial burdens,[22] ensure privacy, and foster stronger relationships.[23][24][25]

The application is best known for allowing users to make unlimited free phone calls, send free SMS text messages, and connect with people with a second phone number.[26][27]

Dingtone operates on a Material Design interface that's easy to use and navigate. It charges the users in credits per minute which can be earned through advertisements and promotions or purchased for a fee.[28]

Dingtone offers users a second phone number[29][30] that is registered in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and more countries and areas. As of 2022, the app has over 100 million users.[31]

Second phone number

The apps provide users the option to get a local number in a foreign country and make international calls.[32][33] This number can be registered in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and more countries and areas.[34][35]

Free-of-cost/low-cost calling and texting

Dingtone users can call any mobile or landline without charge, with international calls and texts to over 200 countries.[36][37][38][39]

Conference video calling

Dingtone also provides services of live video conference calling.[40][41] It allows the users to connect maximum of 1000 people at a time i.e. It provides the voice calls conferencing service.[42][43]

Call recording and fax service

In addition to that, Dingtone also facilitates a bespoke call recording feature and a fax service.[44][45][46]
