His achievements have also garnered recognition, as evidenced by his invitation to the prestigious 'We The People: Celebrating The U.S.-India Partnership' event. Moreover, Patel has gained popularity as a Facebook personality and achieved distinction by winning the "$21,000 Listerine Challenge" during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.[3]

Early life and education

Patel was born and raised in Schaumburg, Illinois, and demonstrated a keen interest in the business from a young age. He completed a triple major in finance, economics, and marketing at DePaul University in 2012.

During his initial year in college, Patel embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by founding his first business venture—a South Asian wedding rental company. This early venture highlighted his ambition, resilience, and knack for spotting business prospects, setting the stage for his future pursuits in the business realm.

Career

After graduation, Patel founded Anip Inc., one of the early South Asian talent management companies, showcasing his ability to nurture emerging talents. Alongside his work as a strategy consultant at leading global firms, such as Capgemini, he gained expertise in business strategy and expanded his interests to include tech, healthcare, and entertainment. His entrepreneurial drive led him to serve on advisory boards and become an angel investor in several companies. Eventually, he transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship, venturing into photography, entertainment, and healthcare. He is a renowned venture capitalist, utilizing his extensive expertise to identify and invest in promising startups.[5]

In 2019 Patel co-founded Mirchi, a relationship app for South Asians worldwide. Mirchi offers a contemporary approach to dating and finding friends, providing the option of strict friendship that is not limited to marriage or serious relationships. The app aims to meet the diverse relationship preferences of its users. Additionally, Mirchi stands out as the first South Asian app that is inclusive of the LGBT community and does not utilize the caste system, promoting progressiveness and inclusivity for all.[6]

In 2022, Patel founded CaPatel Investments, an investment firm primarily focused on supporting companies that uphold South Asian values. The firm concentrates on funding startups based in South Asia, providing essential resources and networking opportunities to facilitate their growth. The firm offers a grant program for new ventures, providing up to $10,000 and investment opportunities ranging from $50,000 to $500,000. In addition to financial support, CaPatel Investments offers comprehensive assistance to companies in areas such as marketing, strategy, sales, and financial guidance.[7]

Notably, Patel recently organized the Mohan Matchmaking Convention in Chicago, bringing together 1,000 eligible single South Asians. The convention addressed the challenges of meeting potential partners in real life by allowing participants to engage in curated and intimate matchmaking events tailored to their interests. Held on April 7th and 8th, 2023, the convention provided a safe and inclusive environment for South Asian singles to forge meaningful connections and find their ideal matches.[8]

Patel’s expertise and accomplishments have earned him an invitation to the prestigious 'We The People: Celebrating The U.S.-India Partnership' event and dinner, held at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Eisenhower Theater, on Friday, June 23, 2023.[9]

He has built a following of over 180k on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, Patel gained prominence as a Facebook personality known for his comedic rants on his widely followed page, Mondays with Mohan. With a substantial following of 62,000 followers, his humorous take on life has garnered significant attention. He has also achieved recognition by winning the "$21,000 Listerine Challenge" during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. These accomplishments have further solidified his presence as an entertaining and engaging social media figure.[10]

Patel's commitment lies in making a positive impact by giving back to minority communities and supporting the global community. A notable aspect of his philanthropic endeavors includes generous donations through CaPatel Investments. These donations have benefitted South Asian college organizations, enabling students to participate in extracurricular activities and thereby enhancing their holistic educational experience.[11]
