Early life and education

Anelia Sutton was born to Arnold Sutton Sr. (deceased), a US Army veteran, and Rosita Sutton, in the Republic of Panama.[1][3] She is the daughter of a Mestizo-Panamanian mother and an Afro-Panamanian father[4] and was raised with four siblings on Army bases located in Kentucky and Gelnhausen, West Germany.

After the tragic death of her sister, Marcia Magdalena Williams, an innocent bystander who was fatally gunned down by a stray bullet on her way home from a visit with her mother. "Despite the years since her murder in 1991, I still miss my sister dearly and will continue to feel the loss of presence for the rest of my life. I keep some of her home decorations in my home, I have some of her clothing hanging in my closet, and one of her favorite artworks she painted in high school has been with me to keep her memory alive."

In 1993, Anelia Sutton earned Le Diplome D'Esthetique from Yvonne De Vilar Scientific Skin Care and Business Development Certificate from Howard University in 1999. In 2000, she went for the Declaration of Financial Empowerment and became a member of The Chairman's Circle, The Oxford Club in 2006. Sutton holds a Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health (2007). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Excelsior College (2008), a Master of Business Administration from Northcentral University (2009), and a Post-Master's Certificate from Northcentral University (2011).

Career

In 2004, Anelia Sutton began her US Navy career and, in 2018, became a veteran with an Honorable Discharge.[3] In 2016, she adopted the alias Anne Smith as her professional name to protect her daughter. In early 2022, Anelia discontinued using the alias Anne Smith as her professional name. In 2022, Anelia launched a comic book using the alias Anne Smith as the secret identity for superhero Sunshine Reign.[5][6]

In 2017, she established IRON Sharpens IRON Council, which began as a Facebook[7] legal advocacy community, to help her daughter, who was wrongfully committed to a state hospital by a corrupt prosecutor, who presented false evidence in case of two counts of attempted murder of her children, 4 and 5 at the time, and two counts of alteration of food, drink or drug, in November 2013.[2][8] The IRON Sharpens IRON Council's community grew through which she established her career as a motivational speaker, thought leader, and social activist.[1][4][9]

Anelia Sutton runs a social justice movement, Clear Her Name, to save her daughter and two grandchildren. After 7 years of struggle, she decided to write a book titled, Clear Her Name: A Mother’s Journey in Legal Research to Save Her Daughter[10] under her alias Anne Smith[11] then publish Clear Her Name under Anelia Sutton after her daughter's case was closed. Anelia began a crowdfunding campaign for a docuseries about her daughter’s plight, Clear Her Name.[2][1][12] Clear Her Name is getting a movie adaptation by Anelia Sutton.[13][14][15]

She made a guest appearance on the Montel Williams Show and was featured in over 240 media outlets, including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News, Huffington Post, and Forbes.[1][3][16]

Anelia Sutton believes in equality through empowerment as a "peaceful gladiator", a term she coined for someone who chose the peaceful way for the good of all. She also believes that good people can do more good with more.

Anelia is the founder of Mission Possible University. She credits American educator, Mary McLeod Bethune, an education advocate who paved the way for her belief in educational empowerment.[17][18]
