Aanik Adatia (born March 8, 1995), popularly known as Scoobie Da Jeweler, is an American celebrity jeweler best known for creating Atlanta’s top luxury custom jewelry under the brand name “Jewelry Express.”[1][2]
Early life and education
Adatia was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, in 1995. He went to Killian Hill Christian School in Georgia, where he got kicked out and ended up at Brookwood High School. During his freshman year at Brookwood, Aanik got suspended for having a stolen iPod in his possession. This incident proved to be a turning point in his life, which in turn kick-started his entrepreneurial journey. Aanik was taught business by his father, who worked in a jewelry company. Soon, he started working in a jewelry store, which landed him a space on eBay.
Aanik studied Computer and Information Systems Security at Georgia State University, followed by a BBA from the University of Georgia.
Career
Aanik began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 16 when his family's jewelry business struggled to stay open during the economic recession. He found a way to keep the business afloat by giving customers a platform to shop through an online store while staying in their homes.[3] During the pandemic, Aanik felt himself struggling with his corporate job and soon left to give way to his full-time business in custom jewelry.[4]
Influenced by his early days and his father's expertise, Aanik founded Jewelry Express in 2010, a year that marked a fatal economic recession for the e-commerce platform eBay.[5] But he didn't give up and quickly climbed the ladder, achieving top-rated seller status and selling over 1,000 items in high volume. Aanik accumulated over $250,000 in sales up to the year 2016 by selling a variety of jewelry merchandise and items, deploying his consumer relations, entrepreneurship, and e-commerce management skills.[6]
Personal life
Adatia is fluent in Hindi, English, and Urdu. Lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife.
