Ibrahim Zimam (born December 3, 1993) is a Maldivian entrepreneur and the founder of Kleventi, the first and leading wristwatch brand in the Maldives. Known for his perseverance and innovative business approach, Zimam has transformed his passion for entrepreneurship into a successful venture, diversifying his brand to include jewelry, perfumes, and apparel.[1]

Early life and education

Zimam was born in the Maldives, where he grew up in modest circumstances, developing a keen interest in the business from an early age. As a child, he learned how to make necklaces from beads, which he would attempt to sell at the age of 8 or 9. After completing school, Zimam aspired to attend a prestigious university for business studies, but financial constraints prevented him from doing so, prompting him to seek employment in order to support himself and his family.

Career

Zimam began his career as a receptionist at Sun Island Resort and Spa before moving on to become a ground handling staff member for Maldivian Airlines, where he managed passenger check-ins and reservations and ensured smooth flight operations. Despite facing challenging circumstances, including financial constraints and a demanding schedule, Zimam was motivated to change his situation.[2]

During the year 2014, he embarked on a business venture by creating an Instagram page with the intention of selling miscellaneous items. This endeavor provided him with valuable market insights and trends, ultimately leading him to recognize the potential in the watch industry. Motivated by this realization, he made the deliberate decision to shift his focus towards watches and devoted himself to learning the intricacies of starting a brand. Consequently, in 2018, he made the bold choice to resign from his job and establish Kleventi, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey in the watch industry. Recognizing the absence of local wristwatch brands in the Maldives, Zimam conducted extensive research and invested his savings to design and order his first batch of watches, leading to the creation of Kleventi.[3]

After quitting his job to work full-time on Kleventi, Zimam began his entrepreneurial journey. Being unemployed, he dedicated himself to tirelessly selling watches from his tiny bedroom. Stepping out of the confines of his home, he has achieved the remarkable feat of being the first "Local Brand" to establish a presence in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and has now gained international recognition. With a substantial clientele in the Middle East, his business is steadily growing in this market. After three years of relentless dedication, Kleventi emerged as the leading wristwatch brand in the Maldives.[4]

Today, Kleventi boasts a global customer base and has become synonymous with quality and style. The brand's success has led to the establishment of a flagship store inaugurated by the President of the Maldives and has expanded into jewelry, perfumes, and apparel. Kleventi has unveiled five successful series: The Empress, Classic Petite, Victorian, Amour, and Aurora, showcasing their commitment to exquisite timepieces. The brand's success lies in its commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and affordability. Kleventi watches are designed for durability and elegance, exceeding the standard 24-month warranty.
