Wedo is a commission-free, all-in-one social networking platform that helps freelancers, gig workers, and small business owners to start and manage their businesses.[1] The application features video payments, chat, invoicing, building teams, driving business, and other services that ensure the efficient functioning of companies.[2][3]

History

Wedo was founded in 2020 by Indiana Gregg, headquartered in Glasgow. The platform now has offices in London, Berlin, Edinburgh, and Palo Alto. Wedo is a collection of premium applications embedded within a social network that offers banking and payment services. As a web-enabled and mobile-based platform, it allows small company owners and freelancers to launch an online business and accept payments for services rendered. The platform offers a commission-free marketplace with premium tools, including 4K video conferencing, chat, banking, invoicing, and project and event management. It provides users with access to tax advice, bill payment, pensions, office space, training, and employment services via virtual offices. As a social network, Wedo permits its users to be discovered, look for skills and partnerships, collaborate, and recommend.[4]

As inflation and the economic crises continue to rise, more individuals are turning to side jobs. Freelancers work from a range of locations, including their homes and offices. The platform is global, with freelancers and businesses spanning from the US, UK, and Europe.[5]

In 2021, the company appointed David Jaques, founding CFO of PayPal as its chairman.

Business model

The business has a transactional freemium and a SaaS model (subscription as a service). The company's mission is to remove barriers to entry for entrepreneurs by delivering a community, a work suite SaaS, and financial tools on an IOS, Android, and Web-based social networking platform.[6]

Funding & investment

The founder, Indiana Gregg, raised $1.5M in investment in a pre-seed round from a non-disclosed VC fund in October 2021 and built version 2 of the application in 2022. In December 2022, Wedo announced a Seeders campaign planned to go live in Q1 2023 and its seed capital round.
