Career

Wilson started his writing career with the California Department of Education, during which he conducted interviews with influential Latino men across the country. These interviews culminated in 160 biographies for the vocational education book Encuentros: Hombre A Hombre (Encounters: Man to Man). He later wrote quotes for a desktop calendar by Pomegranate Publishing titled "Black Humor: Satire, Comedy, & Wit."[2]

In 2005, Wilson released his debut novel, "Soul Eyes," which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Literary Work." His children's book, "Kate the Ghost Dog: Coping With the Death of a Pet," published by Magination Press, has also received acclaim.[3]

A prolific writer, Wilson has authored numerous works, including books about the Underground Railroad, the history of the Negro Leagues, and Native American tribes. He has also contributed to series such as "Righteous Rockers" and "We Were Here First."[4]

Wilson is a member of the Writers Guild of America. He has authored five original screenplays and has worked with production companies, including Universal Studios, where he wrote a treatment and screenplay.[5]

Wilson has also worked on projects for PBS and Union Bank, crafting stories that highlight the heroic moments in US military history. He is also a contributing writer for the African American National Biography (AANB), documenting various aspects of American life and culture. As a ghostwriter, his work spans topics, such as parenting, community empowerment, online dating, environmentalism, pollution, the United States Secret Service, the war against Boko Haram, biographies, memoirs, and children's adventure books.

Wayne's newest novel, "The New Frontier," was released by Artemesia Publishing on May 14, 2024.
