Umakant Soni is an Indian entrepreneur and computer scientist. Co-founder and CEO of the Nonprofit organization, Artificial intelligence & Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK) based in Bangalore, India.[2] Nominated as expert by Government of India on Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) working group on Innovation and commercialisation.[3]

Education

Soni did his Master degree in Technology from IIT Kanpur.[4]

Career

In 2018, Soni along with his partners in pi Ventures raised the funds of ₹40 crore from the UK governments’ CDC Group Plc. The fund plans to invest in 18-20 deep-tech start-ups, and keep aside a significant portion for follow-on investments.[5]

In 2021, Soni collaborated with Niramai company and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to come up with X-Ray Setu. It is an AI-based program that runs on the app Whatsapp to help detect Covid-19 in areas where CT scans and RT-PCR tests aren't available or delayed.[6]
