Topp Jirayut Srupsrisopa (born February 8, 1990), business name Topp, is best known as the Founder and Group CEO of Bitkub Capital Group Holdings, the largest digital asset and blockchain company in Thailand.[1] Topp is a Thai fintech entrepreneur, bitcoin expert, and a keynote speaker on topics of cryptocurrency, fintech, and blockchain technology.[2][3][4]

Topp is also an Executive Board Member and Vice President at the Thai Fintech Association.[5] He has won the CEO of the Year Award and has also been featured in the Top 100 Blockchain Industry Leaders of 2019.[6][7] Topp was recently invited to speak at World Economic Forum 2022 on the topic “DeFi — Future of Decentralized Governance.”[8][9][10][11]

Background

Family

Topp was born in Bangkok, Thailand and raised in a family of clothing exporting businesses. He received his primary schooling from Marlborough’s Boys College, followed by his high school from Wanganui Collegiate School. He was rather mischievous in his early years and frequently spotted squabbling with his friends. Topp also experienced low grades, owing to which he could not apply to Thai University. However, he didn’t let this situation bog him down. Topp sat down for 12 hours on a daily basis and received his Bachelor of Economics from the University of Manchester. Thereafter, Topp attended the University of Oxford to pursue his MPhil in Economics.[12][13]

Early life

Topp, who is interested in economics and finance, came across a blog written by Marc Lowell Andreessen, an investor in Facebook, that motivated him to study a bitcoin white paper. He was inspired by this incident to seek a career in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. When bitcoins were still relatively unknown, Topp already understood their potential to revolutionize the banking sector. At the age of 23, he launched his first business thanks to his confidence. Besides cryptocurrency, Topp, as a young kid, also desired to be a footballer.

Career

In 2014, Topp founded Coins.co.th, a leading Bitcoin exchange in Thailand, at a time when few Thais knew about digital assets.[14] After four years of its founding, the company was acquired by Go-Jek for $72 million. Having exited from his first venture, Topp founded Bitkub Capital Holdings, a startup unicorn that aims to provide services for the digital asset ecosystem, including e-wallets, cryptocurrency trading, and investment advisory.[15][16]

Topp is currently the Founder and Group CEO of Bitkub Capital Group Holdings.[17] Founded in 2018, Bitkub has become Thailand’s most dominant national startup champion in just a span of four years.[18] Bitkub is licensed under the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission and is a dominant player in the Thailand cryptocurrency market.[19][20]

Topp is also an Executive Board Member and Vice President at the Thai Fintech Association, and a Subcommittee member at Thailand’s Office of the Trade Competition Commission.[21] He is a well- known speaker on the subjects of cryptocurrency, fintech, and blockchain technology.[22]

Honors and awards

Topp has earned the CEO of the Year Award. He has also been featured in the top 100 Blockchain Industry Leaders of 2019.[23] Topp also emerged as the winner of the Thailand Securities Exchange Commission’s first Fintech challenge.[24]

Topp is also a gold medalist at the University of Manchester.[25] He is the youngest nominee for an honorary degree in digital economy in Thai history.[26] Topp was recently invited to speak at the World Economic Forum 2022 on the topic "DeFi—Future of Decentralized Governance." He is a YPO member as well.[27]

Personal life

Topp is fluent in Chinese, Thai, and English.
