Alexander Espinoza (born September 22, 2002), professionally known as The Dream X, is an American singer, songwriter, music producer, model, and actor. Notably, he is an advocate, motivating individuals to pursue their dreams and combat bullying.[1] As a singer, his music spans various genres, including classical opera, pop, R&B, Reggaeton-Rap, and POPERA, marked by its evocative storytelling that resonates with a global audience.[2] His music combines catchy melodies with introspective lyrics, offering listeners an opportunity for deep self-reflection.

The Dream X achieved significant recognition with the release of his debut single, "Bla Bla," in 2023.[3] His presence extends across various music platforms, including SoundCloud, Spotify, and Apple Music.[4]

Early life and education

The Dream X was born and raised in Sandy, Utah, to parents Gloria and Andres Espinoza. His early life was characterized by a strong passion for music, which was apparent in his habit of singing in various contexts. He often performed publicly, including impromptu performances at places such as Walmart and restaurants, where he garnered positive attention and applause. This exposure to public performance sparked his interest in music, further nurtured by his great-grandfather, Ruben Torres, and his mother, who instilled in him a newfound appreciation for opera.

Growing up, The Dream X faced instances of bullying owing to his interests in acting, singing, and music. Having completed his high school education, The Dream X is pursuing his studies at the University of Utah.

Career

The Dream X auditioned for talent shows such as America's Got Talent, American Idol, and The Voice, albeit missing some opportunities due to timing. However, he secured a spot in the "The Opening Act" competition, beating over 23,000 contestants.

Since 2021, The Dream X has had an active presence in the music industry. He garnered recognition with the release of his debut single, "BLA BLA" featuring Monaleo on September 22, 2023.[5]

Dream X is notably recognized for his ability to blend diverse musical genres, creating a distinctive and innovative sound. Within his music, The Dream X explores genres such as classical opera, pop, and R&B, which have contributed to his unique musical style, often referred to as "Popera." He draws inspiration from personal experiences of abuse and bullying, driving him to create music that is a source of inspiration and empowerment for individuals who have faced similar adversities.[6]

Dream X has developed a distinct musical genre by combining English and Spanish in a fusion of reggaeton and rap. This blending incorporates elements from both languages and merges reggaeton's rhythms with rap's lyrical flow, allowing Dream X to connect with diverse audiences and bridge the gap between fans of both genres.

Awards and recognitions

The Dream X was recognized with the Best Singer and the Opening Act awards at the National Association for Teachers Singing Competition.
