Srikar Karra (born 16 May 2001) is an American entrepreneur, author, brand strategist, and digital marketer.[1][2] He is the founder of Karra Media and Insight Chess Academy. Karra is often regarded as one of the top social media experts in the industry due to his strong influence on social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube.[3][4] Karra offers digital media coaching services that help his clients to exponentially grow their social media presence, helping them generate business leads and scale their businesses.

Karra has authored Best of Life Hacks, an Amazon Best-Seller book about a culmination of nerdy ideas to make life a bit easier.[5] Karra has built a network of over a million followers across his personal pages and has built a network of over 100 million followers in total.[6]

Karra is also a contributing writer for a number of publications, including ThriveGlobal, Medium, and Buzzfeed, and has been featured in a number of media outlets for his fast-paced success and array of expertise in social media marketing. The publications include Entrepreneur, Yahoo, DisruptMagazine, Thrive Global, IMDB, Medium, and more.[7]

Early life and education

Karra was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, with his father, Vittal Karra, who was a consultant, and his mother, Vani Karra, who was a teacher.

Karra attended South Forsyth High School and had leadership inclinations right from his childhood. He was actively involved in activities and held positions such as the Officer of the Chess Team and Director of Public Relations Officer for the Student Body Government. Karra was also a member of the Future Business Leaders Association of America (FBLA) during his high school years. After the completion of high school, he went on to pursue Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley.

Along with continuing his education, Karra managed to start multiple online businesses and successfully built millions of followers on various social media platforms.[8]

Career

Karra, since the very beginning, had business inclinations. But it was at the age of 14 when he decided to start his first business: an e-commerce bracelet site.

Karra then launched his career journey in 2016 when he co-founded Insight Chess Academy along with his younger brother, Sai Karra. Insight Chess Academy is known for training children for tournaments, teaching fundamentals of chess, and organizing events. The money generated is donated to several charities spread across India and America, including the Akshaya Patra Foundation, Rise against Hunger, and The Hunger Project.

In 2018, Karra attended the Georgia Institute of Technology as a high school researcher, where he worked on the development of computational models that describe how people generate hypotheses to explain patterns of data known as Human Hypothesis Generation.

Karra then joined the CollegeFindMe team in 2019, located in San Francisco, where he worked as a video production intern for a few months.

In 2020, Karra started his very own digital business, Karra Media, a business that specializes in helping clients have a larger media presence. It was at this time that he also launched his own clothing website along with publishing his very first book, ‘Best of Life Hacks.’ The book was positively received by audiences everywhere and garnered massive attention from many media outlets and sold hundreds of copies.

Personal life

Karra is an avid reader and knows multiple languages including Sanskrit, Hindi and Telugu. In his free time, Karra enjoys meditating, playing chess and working out. He currently lives in Atlanta with his parents and younger brother, Sai.
