Spirit Technology Solutions is an Australian information technology and telecommunications company that offers IT solutions to businesses by creating a secure and modern digital workspace.[1] The company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as ST1[2] and is a leader in the business technology space.[3][4]

The main services offered by the company include managed IT services, telecommunication services, cloud services, and cybersecurity services to small and medium-sized businesses.[5]

History

Spirit Technology Solutions was founded in 2005, by Geoff Neate and Joe Tigal, headquartered in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The company provides cybersecurity services, managed print and WiFi services, IT support services, personal and business internet, unified communications, and work from home services. The company was formerly known as Spirit Telecom Limited, which was later changed in October 2020 to Spirit Technology Solutions Ltd.[6]

In 2012, Spirit acquired Melbourne-based ISP Voxcom to expand its layer-2 network. In 2015, the company acquired My Telecom, which resulted in network consolidation and gaining operational leverage.[7]

On June 27, 2016, Spirit was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as ST1 through an RTO of Arunta Resources after reaching $2 million in subscriptions. Spirit raised $2.62 million by selling 131 million additional shares at $0.02 each, giving it a market capitalization of $16.7 million.[8][9]

In 2017, Spirit acquired Phone Names and World Without Wires.

In 2018, Spirit secured a $1.7 million deal with Victoria's state government to provide internet to Horsham.[10][11] The company’s network speed was improved to 1 Gbps spanning Horsham, Swan Hill, Rupanyup, Warracknabeal, and parts of South Australia.[12]

In 2019, Spirit acquired four companies including Phoenix Austec,[13] LinkOne, Building Connect, and Arinda IT, thereby leading the way for the company’s expansion into the managed service provider sector.

In January 2020, Spirit acquired Sydney-based Cloud BT.

In February 2020, Spirit acquired The Bentley Group (Trident Business group and Neptune Managed Services) for $6.9 million. The acquisition allowed the company to launch its business unit, Trident IT Solutions that provides cloud-based IT and internet solutions for schools, hospitals and aged care facilities.

In May 2020, the company completed a $9.2 million placement to fund its triple acquisition valued at $10.4 million and expand its telco digital sales platform Spirit X. Companies acquired are Reliance IT, Altitude IT and Beachhead Group,[14] and were named Spirit Solution Partners, now part of Spirit’s wholesale division of the MSP sector.[15]

In June 2020, Spirit acquired Queensland-based IT and communications company VPD Group.[16]

In October 2020, during the annual general meeting, the company was rebranded to “Spirit Technology Solutions Ltd.” by its then managing director Sol Lukatsky.[17]

In the year 2021, Spirit carried out notable acquisitions by acquiring Brisbane-based security services firm Intalock and Sydney-based telco gear company Nexgen for $15 million and $50 million respectively.[18] The acquisition increased the company's market share in corporate and government markets and cross-sold cloud, data, and voice security services and brought in more than 5500 new B2B customers and 100 sales employees.[19]

On July 11, 2022, Julian Challingsworth was appointed as CEO and Managing Director for Spirit Technology Solutions.
