Sawyer Business Group is an American holding company that manages a diverse portfolio of franchise businesses and real estate ventures. Founded in 2005 by Tony Sawyer, the group has established itself as a leader in the franchising and real estate industries. With a portfolio of diverse franchise businesses and a track record of success, Sawyer Business Group has shaped the landscape of these industries through its leadership and entrepreneurial endeavors.[1][2]
History
Sawyer Business Group was founded in 2005 by Tony Sawyer and is headquartered in Midlothian, Virginia. The company serves as a holding company for a range of businesses across various industries, including men's hair salons, restaurants, adventure parks, and mobile businesses teaching children robotics and engineering principles.
The group initially started with a license to operate seven Sport Clips salons across multiple locations in the United States. Over the years, it has expanded and grown to become the largest Sport Clips franchisee in the Southeast, with 54 locations spread across multiple states, including Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, and Tennessee.
In addition to its Sport Clips franchise locations, Sawyer Business Group also owns and operates two Urban Air Adventure Parks, two Snapology locations, and diverse commercial and residential real estate assets.
In February 2023, Tony Sawyer and his wife, Brigitte Bartley Sawyer, made a significant acquisition by securing 10 Eggs Up Grill restaurants in the Hampton Roads territory.[3] This significant step will mark the introduction of their inaugural Eggs Up Grill establishment to the public in late 2023.[4] The acquisition includes the metropolitan areas of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Newport News, Virginia.[5]
Philanthropy
Sawyer Business Group demonstrates a commitment to philanthropy through various initiatives and partnerships. On Veteran's Day, Sport Clips stores owned and operated by the Sawyer Business Group provide free haircuts to service members and veterans. Additionally, $2 per haircut is donated to the "Help A Hero" campaign,[6] with the goal of raising $50,000.
Sport Clips collaborates with Indianapolis Colts'[7] defensive back Kenny Moore II and his Love One Foundation to raise funds through the "Mighty November" campaign. These funds contribute to the support of pediatric patients who are receiving hospice and end-of-life care at the Riley Children's Foundation. To kickstart the fundraising efforts, Tony and wife, Brigitte Bartley Sawyer presented a check of $10,000 to Mason Garvey's family and three other families supported by the Riley Children's Foundation.
