Sandy Tejada is an American actress, and model based in New York City.[1] She is known for her appearances in various productions, including FBI, The Deuce, Angelfish, Goatface, and most recently, the "Sex and the City" reboot, And Just Like That, where she played the role of the Hostess alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.[2]

Tejada has featured in major modeling campaigns for various well-known brands, including L'Oreal, Mary Kay, Calvin Klein, Lancome, Jimmy Jazz, Goya, American Express, and Walmart. She has been associated with MMG Model, Talent, and Celebrity Management, and has been represented by Take 3 Talent, a prominent modeling agency in New York.[3][4][5]

Early life and education

Tejada was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in Queens by her single mother. At 14, she lost her mother, compelling her to face the challenges of life at a young age. At 15, she started a career in bartending to finance her pursuits.[6]

Since a young age, Tejada showcased athletic prowess as a member of a swim team and competed in the Junior Olympics for several years. During her freshman year, Tejada actively participated in varsity basketball and softball teams. Beyond sports, Tejada was a member of the student council throughout high school, and the class vice president during her senior year.[6]

As a child of immigrant parents who migrated from the Dominican Republic without knowing any English, Tejada was the first generation in her family to graduate college. She pursued higher education at St. Francis College, supported by a four-year Presidential Academic Scholarship. Tejada focused her studies on Communications with a concentration in Film and Broadcasting. Her time at St. Francis exposed her to the television, theatre, and film industry, where she discovered her love and passion for acting.[6]

Career

Early career

In college, Tejada learned the entertainment business through research, trial, and error, and working without compensation. She was looking to discover where she belonged in the entertainment business. Consequently, her continuous dedication, patience, and hard work earned her the respect of many casting directors who called her multiple times into the auditioning room nationwide. Sandy has appeared in numerous national and international print, commercials, and campaigns, including Blue Buffalo, Cadillac, Angry Orchard, INFOR, L'Oreal, Mary Kay, Calvin Klein, Lancome, Jimmy Jazz, Goya, American Express, and Walmart.[7]

As a model, Tejada has been associated with MMG Model, Talent, and Celebrity Management, and has been represented by Take 3 Talent, a prominent modeling agency in New York.[8]

Career (2010–2015)

Tejada co-starred with Luke Massy in the film Hemoglobin (2013) and played the role of a vampire.[9] She appeared in MTVís The Seven (2010), MTV 10 on Top (2012), Hip Hop Squares (2012),[10] Say it Song (2015). She also starred on Pretty Little Liars Telenovela spoof, as the role of Spencer with comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer on Nikki & Sara Live (2013). Tejada starred as Adriana Vasco in the episode "The Lovesick Doctors" on Investigation_Discovery, My Dirty Little Secret (2015) and as Shae on Discovery Channel Dirty Little Lies (2012) in the episode "Who's Hustling Who." Tejada had various guest television appearances as a model on NBC's The Nate Berkus Show (2010).[11] Furthermore, she has made appearances on NBC's the Dr. Oz Show (2014), E Channel's, House of DVF (2014), NBC's The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon (2015) hosted by Jimmy Fallon.[12]

Career (2015–2020)

Tejada performed in the role of Yesenia in the movie EXPOSED (2016) which starred Keanu Reeves.[13] She co-starred with James Franco and Daniel Sauli on Season 2 of HBO's The Deuce (2018), she performed the role of Jaci. Sandy had also co-starred alongside Hasan Minhaj on Comedy Central's GOATFACE (2018) A Comedy Special, she performed the role of Jasmine. Most recently, Sandy performed the role of Luna in the movie Angelfish (2019).[14] In 2019, Tejada appeared on NBC's Visiones [14] with Lynda Baquero to discuss the movie, Angelfish. These past few years, Tejada has also made a few modeling appearances on ABC's Good Morning America.[15]

In her most recent work, Tejada played the role of the Hostess at one of New York City's distinguished restaurants in the pilot episode of the "Sex and the City" reboot, "And Just Like That," which premiered in 2021.[16][17]

Additionally, Tejada featured in the American crime drama television series "FBI" (2021), a creation of Dick Wolf and Craig Turk that airs on CBS. She portrayed Sofia Vargas in the episodes "Straight Flush" and "Checks and Balances" in 2021.

Personal life

Regardless of the numerous obstacles and barriers she has faced, Tejada has done well for herself and become successful with very little support in her life. Tejada continues to honor her mother who continues to be an enormous inspiration in her life.[18] Through her mother's teachings, Sandy learned to believe in herself and have wholesome morals and values. Tejada's mother sacrificed much to give her daughter a better life. Due to her mother's insights, Tejada succeeded in achieving the American Dream. Today, Tejada continues to bring this dream to reality.[6][19]
