Sandy Tejada is an American actress based in New York City.[1][2] She can be seen in the movie Angelfish playing the role of Luna co starring with Princess Nokia aka Destiny Frasqueri.[3][4]

Early life and education

Sandy Tejada was born in Manhattan, New York and grew up in Queens.[5] Sadly, at the age of fourteen, Sandy suffered the untimely loss of her single-parent mother. Due to being forced to deal with the unthinkable as a young teen, she had no other choice but to become an adult at such an early age by being independent and persevering on her own. During high school, since her freshman year, Sandy starred on the varsity basketball and softball teams. Sandy also was part of a swim team from the age of seven and competed in the Junior Olympics for several years. Beyond athletics, Sandy was a part of the student council throughout her entire high school experience, she served as the class vice president during her senior year. Playing sports and prioritizing her education is credited for paving the path for much of her success in life.

As a child of immigrant parents who migrated from the Dominican Republic without knowing any English, Sandy was the first generation in her family to graduate college. Sandy completed her degree due being the recipient of a 4-year presidential academic scholarship and graduated with magna cum laude honors.[5] While contemplating ways to break into the entertainment business, Sandy attended acting and modeling schools as an adolescent. She also participated in many pageants in New York City. Sandy earned a bachelor's degree in communications as a result of attending St. Francis College, New York.[5] During her college experience, she concentrated on Film and Broadcasting while minoring in the field of Information Technology (IT).

Personal life

Regardless of the numerous obstacles and barriers she has faced, Tejada has done well for herself and become successful with very little support in her life. Tejada continues to honor her mother who continues to be an enormous inspiration in her life. Through her mother's teachings, Sandy learned to believe in herself and have wholesome morals and values. Tejada's mother sacrificed much to give her daughter a better life. Due to her mother's insights, Tejada succeeded in achieving the ìAmerican Dream.î Today, Tejada continues to bring this dream to reality.[5]

Career

Early career

In college, Tejada learned the entertainment business through research, trial, error, and working without compensation. She was looking to discover where she belonged in the entertainment business. Consequently, her continuous dedication, patience, and hard work earned her respect from many casting directors who called her multiple times into the auditioning room nationwide. Sandy has appeared in numerous national commercials including Blue Buffalo, Cadillac, Angry Orchard, INFOR and many others.[6][7]

Career (2010–2015)

Tejada co-starred with Luke Massy in the film Hemoglobin (2013) and played the role of a vampire.[8] She appeared in MTVís The Seven (2010), MTV 10 on Top (2012), Hip Hop Squares (2012),[9] Say it Song (2015). She also starred on Pretty Little Liars Telenovela spoof, as the role of Spencer with comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer on Nikki & Sara Live (2013). Tejada starred as Adriana Vasco in the episode "The Lovesick Doctors" on Investigation_Discovery, My Dirty Little Secret (2015) and as Shae on Discovery Channel Dirty Little Lies (2012) in the episode "Who's Hustling Who." Tejada had various guest television appearances as a model on NBC's The Nate Berkus Show (2010).[10] Furthermore, she has made appearances on NBC's the Dr. Oz Show (2014), E Channel's, House of DVF (2014), NBC's The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon (2015) hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

Career (2015–2020)

Tejada performed in the role of Yesenia in the movie EXPOSED (2016) which starred Keanu Reeves.[11] She co-starred with James Franco and Daniel Sauli on Season 2 of HBO's The Deuce (2018), she performed the role of Jaci. Sandy had also co-starred alongside Hasan Minhaj on Comedy Central's GOATFACE (2018) A Comedy Special, she performed the role of Jasmine. Most recently, Sandy performed the role of Luna in the movie Angelfish (2019).[12] In 2019, Tejada appeared on NBC's Visiones [12] with Lynda Baquero to discuss the movie, Angelfish. These past few years, Tejada has also made a few modeling appearances on ABC's Good Morning America.[13]
