Robert Scragg is a English crime writer from Tyne & Wear.
Scragg has written four novels in the mystery series of Porter and Styles [2], with the first novel What Falls Between the Cracks being selected among 12 titles by the Arts Council funded Read Regional campaign to be stocked in North East libraries [3].
Scragg was also shortlisted for the 2021 Crime Writers' Association Short Story Dagger Award for his story A Dog Is for Life, Not Just for Christmas, published in the crime story anthology Afraid of the Christmas Lights along with the likes of Val McDermid, Sophie Hannah, and Mark Billingham. Scragg is the author of Helix, for which he won the 2021 Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction [9] [10], a prize set up by fellow north east crime writer L.J. Ross.
Personal Life
Scragg lives in Tyne & Wear with his wife and children. He is a fan of the Newcastle United Football Club, of which he calls his fanship "long-suffering", he is also has interests in other sports these being martial arts, scuba diving, and mountain climbing. He has stated that his favourite authors include fellow crime, mystery, detective, and thriller writers: Harlan Coben, Robert Crais, Linwood Barclay, Lee Child, Michael Connelly, Sarah Hilary, Mari Hannah, Mark Billingham, and Howard Linskey.[11]
