The Pure Land Foundation is a philanthropic organization that supports social, spiritual, and emotional wellness.[1] Established in 2015 by Bruno Wang, the foundation aims to enrich lives through art and music, promoting cultural and educational initiatives.[2][3]

Overview

The Pure Land Foundation was established by Bruno Wang in 2015. The foundation draws inspiration from the concept of "pure land" in Buddhism, representing higher consciousness, peace, and harmony. It aims to create a sense of interconnectedness and well-being in daily life by supporting various charitable endeavors, institutions, and programs focused on art, music, and social inclusion. The foundation supports various institutions, charities, and programs focused on mental health, bereavement, refugees, mindfulness for children, and anti-bullying efforts.[4]

Notable projects and events

In 2015, it organized a music and dance charity performance led by Royal Ballet soloist Fernando Montaño at the Royal College of Music.[5]

The Foundation hosts the Pureland Series at China Exchange, featuring inspirational speakers who share their insights on social, spiritual, and emotional well-being.[6] Notable events in 2017 included Ruby Wax's "Masterclass in Mindfulness," a session on "Learning to Live with Loss through Love" with Tom Bradby, Victoria Milligan, and Child Bereavement UK's founder Julia Samuel, and discussions on men's mental health with a panel hosted by Southbank Centre's Jude Kelly.[7]

The Pureland Foundation supports ORA, a world-class contemporary choral ensemble, which released a Christmas album in 2017 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.[8] Additionally, the foundation supports the Cyberscene Project, an educational campaign designed to raise awareness of cyberbullying and combat its effects on young people. The foundation has developed theatrical production in partnership with the Masterclass Trust and Kidscape. The project's inaugural production, 'Cookies', was performed at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and is available as a filmed version for educational use.[9]
