His YouTube channel, which has been active since 2012, has a substantial following of over 17.5 million subscribers.[3]

Early life and education

PopularMMOs, also known as Pat, was born and raised in Connecticut, United States. He pursued his undergraduate education and holds a degree in psychology.

Career

Pat started his YouTube career in 2012 at age 24, adopting the alias "PopularMMOs." His early content primarily focused on gaming videos on Roblox, Fortnite, RuneScape, Slither.io, and World of Warcraft. He started gaining viewers and eventually shifted his focus to Minecraft videos.[4]

Pat entered into a collaborative partnership with his then-girlfriend and former spouse, Jennifer Flagg, who was recognized in the online world as GamingWithJen. Their content catered to a broad audience, maintaining a family-friendly approach with a core focus on Minecraft Let's Play videos, mod showcases, Minecraft challenges, mini-games, and adventure maps. The channel gained recognition and subscribers, appealing to viewers of all age groups. Pat also diversified his content by incorporating vlogs that provided insights into his life with Jen and delved into various aspects of daily life.[5]

During his YouTube career, Pat launched two additional gaming channels, 'PatVsTheWorld' and 'DungeonNoobAdventure,' in 2013 and 2012, respectively. However, PopularMMOs remained the primary platform that propelled him to prominence, accumulating over 17.5 million subscribers with a substantial video catalog of over 4.6K uploads and 14.605 billion views. He is one of the 32 YouTubers highlighted in Kris Madas' YouTuber Intro Challenge.

Beyond his YouTube endeavors, Pat and Jen co-authored a series of children's fiction books. Notable books include a series of graphic novels, such as "A Hole New Activity Book," "Enter the Mine," "Zombies' Day Off," "Into the Overworld," "A Hole New World," and "The End of All the Things."[6]

Pat established a website where merchandise, including items such as t-shirts and hoodies, was made available to his audience.[7]

In addition to gaming content, Pat expanded his online presence to include fitness-related posts on his Instagram account. Simultaneously, he maintained an active presence on YouTube with his new girlfriend, who eventually became his spouse. Nevertheless, his YouTube activity came to an abrupt halt in 2021.[8]

As of the present, PopularMMOs has transitioned into an inactive channel, with Pat removing himself from social media platforms. Speculation exists about a potential return to the channel with fresh content and videos in the foreseeable future.[9]

Controversy

During the years 2021 and 2022, PopularMMOs faced legal controversies, including arrests on charges of domestic battery and an incident involving an attempt to enter a football field during a Jaguars game, along with two other individuals.
