PimComedy is an Asian neoclassical artist, fashion designer, musician, poet, and comedian. He is best known for the PimComedy Fashion Show and his organization, The Set NYC, which aims to end child trafficking.[1][2]
Early life and education
Pim was born in Naperville, IL. He attended Beebe Grade School and later studied at Jefferson Junior High School. His experience at Jefferson was not pleasant and he was often bullied, which later got associated with his fashion show called PimComedy Fashion Show.[3]
Pim attended the University of Illinois to pursue his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, which he completed in 2002. His first job right out of college was at Accusys in Taiwan.
Career
Pim began his artistic journey in 2005 by doing several art shows, comedy events, fashion shows, and film festivals.[4] Through his art, he reaches people both nationally and internationally and aims to make the world a better place to live in. Pim’s fashion shows spark stories of depression, anxiety, coming out of drug use, and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Through his show, Pim hosts a journey deep into the mind of the creator and reveals a magical secret in his own way. PimComedy Fashion Show is a 90-minute production set in an East Village studio among mixed media portraits.[5]
Pim has been featured in Fashion Week 2022, Fashion Night Out, Chelsea Fashion Film Festival, Broadway World, NBC, TheaterMania, PlayBill, and Telecharge, to name a few.[6]
In 2008, Pim came up with The Set NYC, a platform that brings people together for networking, showcasing their work, and helping end child trafficking. He also assisted in creating a comic book to empower children to protect themselves against predators.[7]
Philanthropy
PimComedy is also a supporter of social causes and has volunteered for various organizations such as Hope for New York, The Bowery Mission, Olive Tree TV, Goodwill Rescue Mission, Covenant House, and Holy Apostles NYC. He has also been on the board of Fruit of the Vine Ministry.
Awards
PimComedy has been the producer and presenter of the prestigious Chelsea Fashion Film Festival. He has also won the Best Fashion Film award.
