Ollys TV is an Irish music and entertainment platform, launched in 2019. Based in Ireland,[1] it serves as a global platform for the UK, Irish, Nigeria, and US artists across various genres such as rap, hip-hop, afro swing, UK drill, trap, and R&B.[2][3][4][5][6]

Initially, the portal was used to stream music videos, interviews, and entertainment news, enabling artists to earn recognition and notoriety.[7] BB Bezzal, SKR1, and Lil Devo are known to rise to prominence in collaboration with Ollys TV in late 2019, followed by BoogieK6, Fortune Igiebor, and Debobby in 2020, and L36's A5 and KY in 2021 and 2022. Black and Irish B.I.G Awards nominated Ollys TV for "Outstanding Contribution to Music" in 2022.[8][9]

History

Ollys TV is an online television network established in 2019 by Omotolani Olawale Gazal, popularly known by his stage name Olly Gazal.[10][11][12][13] The network's headquarters are located in County Meath, Ireland. Gazal came up with the idea to start Ollys TV so that new, talented rap artists could get the exposure they needed to get their careers off the ground. He used his skills in networking and marketing to help the artists and change the urban music scene in Ireland.[14][15]

The original purpose of the platform was to give urban artists from Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Africa a place to display their work and distribute music under their names.[16] The Instagram page was initially utilized to upload newly released music videos and memes. After building up a following of one thousand people, Gazal made the decision to start a YouTube channel dedicated to promoting original content that had been independently produced.[17][18]

Platform

Ollys TV is an online platform that broadcasts music videos, interviews, and news about the entertainment industry.[19] It is a platform where various new and upcoming musicians from countries such as Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Nigeria can exhibit their songs and build a music brand for themselves. The "Ireland's Best Artists awards" were introduced into the world by Ollys TV in 2020.[20] The prize was presented to the artists who had demonstrated the most significant amount of dedication throughout that year's work.[21] It is the longest list of artists from Ireland dedicated to Irish urban music that has been auto-ranked by popularity based on views and interactions with Irish urban music genres such as drill, hip-hop, afro, freestyle, and grime, among others.[22]

Ollys TV is a backbone for music artists' development and helps them gain recognition and reputation.[23][24] It has more than ten thousand visitors per day and receives between fifty and one hundred thousand impressions per day on its YouTube channel.[25] Famous musicians that are projected to become more well-known as a result of their involvement with Ollys TV include BB Bezzal, SKR1, and Lil Devo in the latter half of 2019, BoogieK6, Fortune Igiebor, and Debobby in 2020, and L36's A5 and KY in the years 2021 to 2022.[26][27][28]
