Michelle Binas is a Filipino transgender model, beauty queen, and entrepreneur born on September 5, 1984, in a small town/city of Tacurong, Province of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, Mindanao, Philippines. She is Miss Mardi International 2018.[1]

Biography

Michelle S. Binas was born, raised, and studied in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, City of Tacurong, Philippines. She is born to Alfelisa S. Binas (mother), Roberto P. Binas (father) and her siblings include Jafferson S. Binas, Jaycee S. Binas, and Jasper Jed S. Binas. Raised by her loving Hiligaynon people, she is the 2nd child of 4 male siblings. Despite being born a male, Michelle knew she was different from her siblings, gender-wise, and progressively transitioned from male to female at a very young age.

Pageantry

During her training at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, Michelle began honing her interest in modeling and pageantry. She took part in different transgender beauty pageants and won a few.

In 2011, Michelle was one of Manilas Five Prettiest titleholders[2], including Matrica Mae Centino of Samar/Leyte, Rain Marie Madrigal from Cebu City, Channa Mendis from Ilo-ilo, and Trixie Maristela from Manila. In the same year, she contested for the Miss Amazing Philippines Beauty[3] crown and won!

Other pageants she won include Miss Gay Philippines Earth 2013[4], and Queen of Cebu Earth 2013.

Her success in national transgender beauty pageants qualified her to compete internationally. She represented her country at the international level in Miss International Queen|Miss International Queen 2011 and 2015 in Pattaya|Pattaya, Thailand[5], where she finished among the top 10 finalists. In 2018, Michelle traveled to Melbourne, Australia, to pursue her career and lifelong dream in entrepreneurship. She competed for the Miss Mardi Gras International Queen 2018[6] and won.

Other Activities

Before going into the pageant, Michelle had dreamed of becoming a beauty queen. Thus, her modelling career was a natural flow from her success in pageantry. In 2020, after a successful career as a model and beauty queen, Michelle decided to go into business.

Michelle is single, now focuses on her business as an Entrepreneurship in Melbourne, Australia. Currently, she is the Founder/Director of Eclectic1984[7], an international Jewelry Line based in Melbourne, Australia.

Activism

As a rights advocate, Michelle decided to travel worldwide to learn about culture and traditions to understand the human race and behaviors in a better way.

Michelle remains a committed supporter of the Filipino Lesbian and Gay Community and Friends (FLAGCOM and friends) community in Sydney, Australia. She aligns herself with promoting Social Cohesion, Community Harmony, and Safe Sex among Filipino LGBTQI and their friends.

Another notable activity of Michelle is her volunteer work with the Salvation Army. She is helping with the evangelical efforts of the universal Christian Church to care for the needy and build a healthy community.
