Meena Chabbria (born May 22) is an Indian business executive, success coach, author, and women empowerment activist, best known for her role as the Vice President - PVR Cinemas, South India & Sri Lanka. With over 15 years of experience in the media industry, Chabbria has established herself as a corporate veteran and influencer, specializing in end-to-end business and marketing management.[1]

In addition to her successful career, she is on a mission to empower 100,000 women through her venture SheroSquad to become global leaders. For Meena, SheroSquad is not just a venture; it’s a revolution, providing a nurturing ground for women to learn, earn, and grow. Chabbria is also involved with various foundations and organizations, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the community.[2]

Meena realized the need for a secure platform where women can express themselves freely and pursue learning and earning opportunities without judgment. With only about 10% of working-age Indian women employed, SheroSquad aims to break barriers, providing a private platform for women to retail their products and services and achieve their dreams.Besides educating and empowering, SheroSquad will enable women by providing a ready to use technology platform to earn from.[3]

Early life and Education

Chabbria was born on May 22 in a refugee camp in Coimbatore, India. Her family belonged to the lower middle class and had immigrated from Pakistan during the partition. Despite the challenges faced while growing up in a refugee camp, Chabbria's upbringing instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and equality. Her father, who owned a tailor shop, played a pivotal role in shaping her character, while her grandfather's generosity towards those in need left a lasting impression on her.

Chabbria completed a postgraduate diploma in early childhood education from Bharathiar University in 2003. She later pursued a postgraduate program in management for executives in business administration, management, strategy, and innovation from the prestigious UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2022. Additionally, she has completed several certification courses in business administration, management, public relations, advertising, and applied communication from esteemed institutions such as IIM Raipur and Mudra Institute of Communications and Advertising.[4]

Despite her challenging upbringing, Chabbria showed a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. She worked hard at various odd jobs to provide for her family, including working at a daycare center, being a caregiver, school helper, pre-KG teacher, and even selling Tirupur-rejected T-shirts.[5]

Career

Starting in the service industry, Chabbria initially worked as a call center representative at Shiamak Davar's Dance Academy. Her diligence and dedication earned her a promotion to assistant manager, where she found her interest in sales and marketing. With time, Chabbria progressed through the ranks and eventually became the city manager, executing several successful shows.[6]

In 2007, Chabbria started as a marketing manager at Inox, where she served for three years.

Presently, Chabbria holds the position of Assistant Vice President, Brand Alliance at PVR Cinemas, where she joined in 2009. Previously, she served as the head of sales for PVR Cinemas in South India. In this role, Chabbria oversaw the operations of 272 screens across 44 cinemas located in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala. Additionally, she headed the Sri Lankan multiplex, which featured nine screens.[7]

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic caused uncertainty in the job market, Chabbria decided to invest her time in upskilling herself. She undertook multiple management courses at renowned institutions such as UCLA, IIM Raipur, and ISB. As a result, Chabbria emerged as a more confident and educated professional, equipped with advanced skills that led to further growth opportunities in her career.[8]

In addition to her accomplished career, Chabbria also serves as a success coach, dedicated to empowering women to become global leaders. With a goal of empowering 100,000 women through, she offers various programs and courses, such as the Unstoppable Angels 2-Day Bootcamp and the Corporate Detox 5-Day Workshop.[9][10]

Moreover, Chabbria shares her expertise and insights through her website's blog section, where she features articles on inspiring women from diverse fields and professions, sharing their journeys to success. Additionally, she offers articles addressing the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, providing tips and guidance on work-life balance for women.[11][12]

Chabbria actively engages in various foundations and organizations, including the Rotaract Club of Chennai and the Isha Foundation. Her contributions to the Rotaract Club include managing more than 50 national and international events, earning her the Best Female Rotarian award (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) for 2005-2006.[13][14]

Meena launched her autobiography ‘Unstoppable’ that reveals her inspiring life story and struggles,[15] leading her to the top in 2023 in the presence of Bollywood actress Shipa Shetty.[16][17]

Awards and recognitions

  • Chabbria was awarded the title of "Best Female Rotarian" at the 2006 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.
  • In 2006, she was credited with the Overall Performer and Proficiency Award by Kothari's Academy for Women in Chennai.

Personal life

Chabbria currently resides in Chennai, and is a proud mother to her children, Prarthana and Vinay. Prarthana Chabbria will soon be making her debut in the Tamil Movie ‘Chiro’.
