Mathieu Dumas (born June 9, 1997) is a Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, and film producer.[1] He is best known for his work in film and theatre, and his directorial debut “The Bicycle Boy”, released in 2024. Dumas has participated in various stage productions and short films, and in 2025, he will appear in a new Bell Fibe TV series.[2]

Early life and education

Dumas was born in Laval, Quebec, and raised in Boisbriand and Blainville. From a young age, he became interested in acting and participated in theatre. Throughout middle and high school, Dumas performed in productions such as Peter Pan (2012) and Beauty and the Beast (2013). In 2017, he graduated from Marie-Victorin College with a DEC in film studies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema from the University of Montreal in 2021. That same year, Dumas moved to Toronto to study Acting for Film, TV, and Theatre at Toronto Film School, graduating in 2022.

Career

Following his graduation from Toronto Film School, Dumas worked as a stage manager for the production of A Hollywood Christmas Carol at Toronto Film School, presented in December 2022. Immediately after that production ended, he secured his second stage managing job with the one-act play Director Peron directs, presented as part of the New Ideas Festival of the Alumnae Theatre in Toronto.[3]

Dumas portrayed lead roles in several short films, including Footsteps (2022), Une vedette du web (2024), and Ulfat (2024), voiced the lead character in one video game, and narrated a few commercials. He also appeared in Season 2 of the History Channel series The UnBelievable, portraying several minor characters over a few episodes.[4]

In 2024, Dumas produced his directorial debut with the film “The Bicycle Boy”. The film earned an Honorable Mention at the Vienna International Film Awards, and was selected for screening at the Indie Gathering International Film Festival in Cleveland.

In 2025, Dumas secured his first major television role as the lead actor in a Bell Fibe TV1 6-episode miniseries, which will be shot in Ottawa. Dumas has also acted in several theatre productions, including Macbeth (2021) and The 39 Steps (2022).
